The recovery effort is daunting due to the size and scope of the debris field.

It stretched west to east 380 miles

from Eastland, Texas,

to Alexandria, La.,

and north-south 230 miles from Sulphur Springs, Texas, to metropolitan Houston.

Don't call me hon and stop your condescending attitude. What is your point? I said two places Fort Worth and Dallas and the map shows south of Dallas and Southeast of Fort Worth and checking it again it still shows that.

Now if something new has turned up since these maps, then that's fine but it sure doesn't look like a lot of debris is south of Fort Worth by the map of a paper you posted from! Nor do any of the stories back it up. They discuss south of Dallas not south of Fort Worth!

At the same time, it has been said that tiles have fallen off before, maybe even over California!, on previous flights. Just seeing something flare away from the shuttle doesn't prove the flight was doomed at that point.

You noticed! Still didn't post the picture. Funniest was when he said he couldn't see post #31! Also didn't reply back about the shuttle sometimes loses tiles over CA which NASA briefed today.

I don't want to fall into the category of a michael redvero for heaven's sake -

Oh, too late. You should hear what I hear about you.

You are so busted for saying you had a picture and it's obvious you don't.

You said that you "saw it", that you "took a screen capture" of it, and asked if there was a want for the pic to be posted.

There is a want, and, rather than dismiss the value of a picture, you should, as a matter of credibility, provide it or offer a reasonable explanation as to why you won't/can't.

The only barometer that anybody has here in being able to evaluate the character of another is their word and their subsequent deeds.

I have found women to be, at times, and sometimes concurrently, any or all of at least the following: highly irrational, intensely critical, abjectly negative, highly irritatable, intensely conniving, remarkably unconcerned and, last but not least, bitchy for absolutely no reason wahtsoever ...

I hate to burst your bubble, but women only act like that with reason. Since that has been your experience with females, we all know what that says about YOU!

I hate to burst everyone's bubble here... But KRON TV 4 in San Fran just ran video tape that was shot by a videographer from atop Mt Hamilton near the Lick Observatory.

There are 3 distincts instances where flicks or light appear to fall away and behind the passing shuttle, they are very small but they are distinct... and it did not appear that it was just a plasma effect as previously or initially offered as a a very early explanation by an expert of what may have been seen shortly before the failure of the shuttle.

Sorry, no screenshots.. But Im sure this will be one of many examples that is brought forward to indicate the shuttle was , in fact, experiencing something nit typically witnessed previously.

Now, will ya'all just make up and try and get along. :-)

I hate seeing discord in the forum, even with good cause. (I'll probably get flamed for that, huh?)

This HAS to be a classic:

I don't see that - must be a technical problem somewhere in the web between me and the server ...

The problem isn't with the photos -- the problem is with the poster. Somehow being called an "idiot" by him ealier today didn't do much for his credibility with me.

If a credible person comes through with the info, I will be glad to listen. The one poster did say that losing tiles during the descent isn't all that rare and I heard the same thing in the briefing.

A poster being rude and condenscending to a lot of posters on here on a variety of topics all dealing with the Government has a total credibility problem with me. Howlin, myself, and others were posting what we heard from the press conference not our own opinions and he took after us because we were not experts in his mind (I guess)! I don't like that type of attitude.

See -- no flames from me!

I am not one to deny that it may have occurred before, but at what point did those other losses occur, how many tiles , what locations were they lost from, etc. This whole thing is going to be debated and batted around for awhl=ile, but Im not to inclined to discount these "routine" flicks as not being any less suspect, especially after the chunk of foamy icy stuff clobbered the left underwing pretty darn good after the launch. That's my opinion and Im sticking to it.. 8-!

This other thing with discord is a bit more perplexing, I wish we could all get along, but .. that's another issue I ain;t up to jumping into tonite.

I had my fill with a certain other fella earlier today. Frankly, I had enough for today. :-) Thanks for your kind words. I'll try and be kind in return as this whole mess unfolds.

_Jim can always be counted upon for dissenting remarks. In fact, FReepers in the past have accused him of being a paid disseminator/disruptor. If you'll start noticing, he is never here on weekends - just Monday through Friday during normal working hours.

If you get a chance to see that briefing on a C-SPAN replay, you should watch it. The person doing the briefing did an outstanding job of explaining everything! He went into great detail about the tiles including the losing of some tiles as the re-enter the atmosphere.

Don't see how he kept his cool though -- was asked the same question over and over even after explaining it!

Have a good evening!

Thanks for the info!

That's what I have been told since first encountering him. Wonder if he is working the 2nd shift with the time he came on and now left.

If he is a Government plant, they are not getting their monies worth because he manages to really irritate and then you want to take the opposite position.

I think the server gods are upset. I clicked on Relpy to you and got an Internal Server Error, wooo!!

Thanks for your posts today on the Patriotic Pets links.

Do you know how many animals and insects died on the shuttle. I heard 12 rats bit it but they were destined for dissection anyway. An ant experiment and spiders also perished. All life is precious. Even anti-war protesters lives. (Now, Im gonna get flamed for sure!)

Dark Wing told me some shuttle debris had been found in Arizona and/or New Mexico, which indicates that the breakup started over California.
