My reaction to Digital Angel when I first heard of it in January of 1999, was "This could very well be used as the Mark of the Beast". I still think that, but this article will sell many people on the "benefits" of this little gem waaaaay before it's ever used for the antichrist's little servant to make every person obeisant. While I'm all in favor of technology and advancements in science, we must remember the times we live in and be ever vigilant to keep our wits about us, "Redeeming the time, because the days are evil" Ephesians 5:16.

Digital Angel Corp. (Amex: DOC, news) said it is working closely with the University of California School of Engineering at Riverside to accelerate the integration of medical and environmental biosensor technologies into its expanding line of wireless communications devices.
The biosensor-equipped devices are expected to open a new era of mobile connectivity, feeding real-time data on personal vital signs and environmental conditions to remote alert centers over cellular and satellite communications links.
The collaboration augments Digital Angel Corp.'s on going programs to broaden the utility of its mobile connectivity devices for the medical and personal safety markets.
Earlier this month, the company unveiled the first product of its new GPS technology platform at the annual Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The 3.5-ounce unit, equipped with a powerful antenna and Wavecom's latest modem technology, is the newest entry in the emerging market for wearable devices that provide wireless connectivity between people, or between people and their pets or assets.
Some of the early work at the engineering school will support programs to integrate sensors that trigger alerts on abnormal changes in body temperature, pulse or blood oxygen levels. Some sensors may require FDA approval and testing before release.
Additional projects will look at ways to monitor and provide alerts of unhealthy environmental conditions such as the presence of hazardous gases, chemical agents, pollen and pollution. Certain of these capabilities may be also helpful in tightening homeland security.
