Professor's Letter Refusal Causes Probe By LISA FALKENBERG Associated Press Writer

January 30, 2003, 9:50 AM EST

DALLAS -- A biology professor who refuses to write letters of recommendation for his students if they don't believe in evolution is being accused of religious discrimination, and federal officials are investigating, the school said.

The legal complaint was filed against Texas Tech University and professor Michael Dini by a student and the Liberty Legal Institute, a religious freedom group that calls Dini's policy "open religious bigotry."

I went to your profile. I think it is interesting you hold those who believe in Creationism with the same contempt you hold Democrats. Good bye.

This is also from your profile:

He also dislikes creationists, Democrats, and broccoli.

Since a paper gave you the tile of Right Wing, I suppose I should not assume what they meant by it. The question does arise, however, as to why you dislike creationists rather than their position?

dinosaurs are a parlour trick staged by Globalist Humanist conspirators,

I see you are fairly familiar with creationist positions. Oh! for the days of thinking evos like Jazzraptor. He could debate topics all day long without having to make anything up.

If it's just an artificial category, then members of different species should be able to successfully mate and reproduce, thus creating a new species.

Huh? Where did you get this remarkable deduction?

There are creationists right here on FR who appear to think lions and tigers are the same species, for example, because they can mate and produce viable offspring.

But, for example, blue winged and golden winged warblers, which have always been classed as different species, mate and produce viable fertile offspring which are quite different from either parent. The hybrids, in fact, were once classified as a third species, and in mating with each other, produce F2 hybrids which were classified once as a fourth species. So, in fact, your attempt at a reductio ad absurdam, while logically flawed, isn't even absurd!

BTW, you didn't answer the oriole challenge.

I dislike them because they attempt to impose their particular religious beliefs on a field in which I (rather peripherally) make my living. I dislike anyone who tries to impose extraneous ideological considerations on science.

It's quite a different kind of contempt, actually.

You just can't see the forest through the trees, can you? Blue winged and gold winged warblers are obviously variations of the same species. Is that so hard to understand?

You will be penalized for citing anti-evolutionary material. It is not science. If the thesis of your paper is anti-evolutionary (akin to arguing against the germ theory of disease or against the atomic theory of matter) you will receive a failing grade.

Thanks for posting that item. It is obvious that the evos grow tired of losing the debate since they now prohibit it.

In college level courses like philosophy, the students are exposed to many contradictory philosophies. The poorer ones are explained and then discredited. The same with history, political science and other courses. Only the theoretical evos try to exempt themselves from criticism.

There is and can be only one reason for this: Evolution cannot withstand scrutiny.

If anyone is trying to impose their religous beliefs on you they are in the wrong. I respect your knowledge of biology and position in the field.
If its your position that "species" are just something humans invented, where are we in this evolution process ? What we know as a "human"; What will it look like in appearance & brain capability in 4 million years from now? What will a "dog" look like? If you have the evidence from the get go of our evolution process, I'm sure you can easily determine the algorithm of our evolution.
Also, what we define as "Species" which is more superior ? Is it your position that humans are superior to all the other species ? Why or why not ?

You are so right. Evolution simply doesn't stand up to objective scrutiny.

I dislike them [creationists] because they attempt to impose their particular religious beliefs on a field in which I (rather peripherally) make my living.

You, being a professor, should understand the premises which you have put forth in your statement:

The question is, are these premises really true? Of course not! A professor should be well aware that making such absolute statements tends to cause later regrets. Perhaps you did not mean "all" in either premise. A professor should know enough to qualify his statements if he does not intend them to be absolute.

But let's test the logic of your statement a different way:

You leave the creationist only two choices: to either impose his religious views on "a field" or cease to be a creationist. This excludes the possibility of rejecting the evolutionary worldview will all of its systematic discontinuities in favor of creation while not imposing religious views on anyone. That is a possibility, is it not?

And, of course, there is always this unanswered question:

If evolution is so scientific,
if it has such a mountain of evidence in favor of it,
if it has evolved from theory to fact,
if it is so logically sound,
if creation is so mindless,
then why don't you or your peers simply meet with the creationists and overwhelm them with the facts?

The answer is: the mountain of evidence doesn't exist, there is no proof, there is no persuasive argument. I write this as a former evolutionist who believed evolution in public high school, at the state university and whose parents (my late evolutionist father had a full professorship) believed it as well.
