Give The Peaceniks A Chance to Leave

“We too watched with shock the horrific events of September 11, 2001. We too mourned the thousands of innocent dead and shook our heads at the terrible scenes of carnage -- even as we recalled similar scenes in Baghdad, Panama City, and, a generation ago, Vietnam. We too joined the anguished questioning of millions of Americans who asked why such a thing could happen.”

This statement was taken from the web site of the “anti-war” group known as NION (Not In Our Name).

They along with the sponsors of last week’s protest, ANSWER want us to believe that they are just a bunch of peace loving people who believe it’s wrong to go into Iraq with guns blazing. Like most liberal rants, this one sounds so sensible on the surface.

But as you read the paragraph from NION’s web site at the top of this column, notice that they equate the death of over 3,000 innocent American civilians with the our involvement of the removal of a dictator in Panama, the mess that was the Vietnam war and the liberation of Kuwait.

There are a couple of things at play here.

First, when trying to figure out the wackiness that is the liberal mind set you must keep in mind that once these folks get it in their head that they are going to protest anything they are never wrong again. It’s part of the elitist attitude that surrounds this crowd. Don’t try to figure it out or even worse, debate them. You will only drive yourself batty.

Second, keep in mind of my painful truth of American politics: “Celebrity status does not make you an expert on matters off foreign affairs or, an expert at anything.” What do Martin Sheen, Bonnie Raitt, Yoko Ono, Casey Kasem, Danny Glover, Jane Fonda, Joan Cusack and Edward Asner know about foreign affairs? These guys are actors! They get paid to lie for a living and now believe that because they make more money than you and I that somehow that translates into expert knowledge on all things foreign and domestic.

And lastly, another of my painful truth of American politics states: “War, while an awful and terrible thing, will always be necessary to ensure the freedom of the United States. Peace is only achieved through superior firepower.” Name one peace movement that caused anything other than chaos or the expansion of communism throughout Southeast Asia. Good intentions never solve anything, but liberals and peaceniks believe that ‘intentions’ are all that matters.

NION’s ‘statement of conscience’ continues:

“We also draw on the many examples of resistance and conscience from the past of the United States: from those who fought slavery with rebellions and the underground railroad, to those who defied the Vietnam war by refusing orders, resisting the draft, and standing in solidarity with resisters.”

To attempt to draw a parallel between the fight for slavery and the war on terrorism shows just how far off base these knuckleheads are. Folks, this is what happens when your wealth and fame closes you off from the real world.

Interestingly enough, Rep. Jim McDermott (D) -Washington, is on the list of those pledging support for NION. Rep. McDermott voted YES on the joint resolution that would authorize the president to use all necessary and appropriate force against parties responsible in any way for the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States. (HJRES 64, 9/14/2001). I guess he was caught up in the moment and would have voted differently today. If you remember, McDermott was one of the Baghdad three, those Congressmen who pulled a Hanoi Jane and visited Iraq to show support for the cause of idiocy.

Rep. Cynthia McKinney, another ‘pledge’ to NION, lost her the re-election bid this past November after it was brought to light that she received on Sept. 11 checks from a number of people who had ties to entities under investigation for fund-raising for and/or financing terrorists.

Funny how Democrats were all for Bill Clinton’s strike on Iraq on the eve of the House vote on impeachment …….

Others involved in this nonsense include a list of who’s who from liberal elite of the world. ANSWER’s ‘Steering Committee’ includes the likes of Free Palestine Alliance, Nicaragua Network, Muslim Student Association of the U.S./Canada, Kensington Welfare Rights Union and Korea Truth Commission. You get the picture.

ANSWER’s web site gives you a better idea of what these groups are really about. A visitor from outer space would believe that George W. Bush is out to take over the world by force and keep all the oil to himself after visiting this web site.

Look, I believe in opposing opinions. I would lay down my life for your right to speak your views especially if they differ from mine. But what these organizations are doing borders on fascism and treason. They are in fact giving aid to an enemy of these United States of America. They do not want a debate; they want to silence those in favor of regime change in Iraq. They have no respect for this country, our way of life or the brave men and women that have died to give them the right to act like fools.

I have a good memory, but I have started a list. I can not, I will not continue to line the pockets of those in the entertainment business that stand against this country. I have never been one for boycotts, but these folks have stepped over the line.

Flights to Baghdad leaving soon, let the bombing begin….
