Forget any assumptions you have about organized protests. The images that come to mind may be a little outdated: Daisy-bearing flower children urging everyone to "make love, not war" and, more recently pipe bomb-wielding anarchists immortalized by demonstrations in Seattle and Quebec.

On Jan. 18, I joined the hundreds of locals who journeyed down to Washington D.C. for a demonstration against military action in Iraq. ****Like many Americans, I worry about the prospect of war and have doubts about our president's foreign policy and seeming lack of concern for domestic issues. Like many of my peers, I worry about the future of our country if we continue our "business as usual" ways of globalization. After hearing myself complain the past few months, I decided to be proactive, to show up and be part of the count. I encourage everyone to exercise a few rights now and then. ****It appears that many Americans share my views. ****As the crowd took to the streets, I felt a rush of excitement, empowerment. ****Grateful to climb back into a warm bus, I ended the day feeling pumped and exhilarated and proud to be a part of it. *****Hart is features editor at The Ithaca Journal. So much for claiming the "Liberal media" is myth.
Interesting, however, that a newspaper would have an editor admit their activist anti-war, anti-Republican, stance.
I guess they know whe their audience is.
Ithaca is the City of Evil.

Melissa, the Dem/Socialists couldn't survive two-minutes without people of your low intelligence and commonsense.

This is another example of the every increasing disintergration of the Ithaca Journal as a serious newspaper.
First, they ignored the fact that the Ithaca College trip to Iraq was illegal (leaving the college newspaper to figure it out). Now they have an editor admit to being, not an observer, but an active participant in the anti-war effort.
We have a joke in our house: the Ithaca Journal is where Gannett sends the people too stupid and shallow to work at USA Today.

Yes, participation in the "anti-war" rally run by the Stalanist lovers of murderous dictators DOES make a difference. It identifies who are the intelligent people in American society, who would not touch such a demonstration with a ten-foot pole. And it identifies the fire-breathing, feel-good idiots like Melissa Hart, who is an editor of a "newspaper" that is tolerated by other idiots. I'd say that is slightly useful, in a negative sense.
My column this week on UPI, which will be read by a lot more people than this pathetic screed in Ithica, deals with some of the dogs that poor Melissa is so proud to lie down with. And, of course, it identifies the ideological fleas that she gets up with.
As Mark Twain said, "Idiots are always blowing themselves up with fireworks on the Fourth of July. We now need two Fourths of July, the contry having grown so."

I think the blue bits of our great state should just secede from the red bits, leaving the latter to go to heck all on their own. I'm tired of them trying to take the rest of us with them.

Could we petition Governor Pataki to revoke their city charter?A better idea, IMHO, would be to petition Pataki to take all his proposed cuts to SUNY and direct them at Cornell (the source of most of the liberal idiocy in Ithaca). We need to stop funding the left.

This is exactly the sort of moron that Rush railed against last week when he kept saying that they are making no difference.

I just heard a war protester from Indianapolis (they are marching this AM) state on our local radio, "during the Gulf War, Americans buried Iraqi soilders alive. We must prevent this from happening again". Where do these idiots get such garbage propaganda? And, how could they even believe such lies? Just makes a sane person want to scream!

I suspect that even if these types don't pipe down after Wednesday, they'll have a tougher time being heard.

****Grateful to climb back into a warm bus, I ended the day feeling pumped and exhilarated and proud to be a part of it. *****
Now here's another thought, our troops at the end of the day don't climb into a "nice warm bus and head home."
The troops are out there protecting their sorry asses 24/7 with no rides home at days end to do just exactly what they do, make fools of themselves on a daily basis!
God Bless America, and her Military!
