Take him out, regardless.

Excellent article.
I wonder at what point the weapons inspectors will realize that they have become human shields? If they all decide to go back to New York for "consultation" will the Iraqis let them leave?

Now that his military knows there will be no turning back this time there are going to be Damn few willing to die for Ol Saddam
This ain't like the devoted loyal fanatical SS and Hitler in WWII
Saddams loyal REP Guards are the bought and paid for types
Me thinks there will be a lot of abandonned uniforms and many loyal troops who become civilians overnight especially after the USA propaganda machine starts dropping leaflets and flooding the airways with advice on how to save butt

According to our President, via the State of the Union address, Saddam has 1 week.

"If they come," he said last year, "we are ready. We will fight them on the streets, from the rooftops, from house to house. We will never surrender." I'd bet 2:5 odds that as soon as the war starts, Saddam's own troops pour concrete down the entrance to his bunker.

He wont disarm. I imagine he thinks if he disarms we will then attack him anyway, and he then wont have weapons that can stop us. He may be right about this, but it is just as well because I would hate to see a disarmed Iraq with Saddam still in power. We had that ten years ago.

I'm so sick of those opposed to Saddam, and accurately seeing the need for "regime change" being called
the war party. If the goals could be accomplished without war, only a faction truly bloodthirsty could opt for it.
And yet, that is what Bush and Blair essentially are accused of: bloodthirstiness.
The goal is not merely the removal of Saddam; it is also the removal of the coterie surrounding him consisting of family and associates in the Baath Party.
Not removing the whole snake is no different from the errors of Gulf War I.

comforting himself with the belief that France, Russia, China and Germany can prevent Bush going to warSorry Saddam. We haven't sent tens of thousands of troops for a no-show. You're toast.
