Infuriating bumper sticker

While at college today, I happened to see a bumper sticker on a faculty member's car. It read "THE ROAD TO HELL IS PAVED WITH REPUBLICANS!".

I was really mad when I read that bumper sticker. I thought, isn't this typical of liberals! If a conservative says anything like that, we are labeled haters, bigots, Jesus-freaks, self-righteous, etc.

Glad I graduated in '91. University of Oregon would have been a hell on earth occupied zone during the Clintoon years. I have great memories of "messing" with the peace protest folk during Gulf I.

One day my then four year old son asked me what was the baddest word. I told him "Democrat." The worst words were "Dirty Democrat." If you are really cussing a storm at our house you are saying "Democrat! Dirty Democrat!!"

I am from New York, and I have a "No Hillary. Not here. Not now. Not EVER." bumber sticker on my truck. You wouldn't believe the number of thumbs up I got while driving through Arkansas (with my NY plates) 2 years ago.

Honestly, I have not had anyone honk their horn at me since I put, "KEEP HONKING, I'M RELOADING" on my bumper. A Nevada State trooper tapped his horn a couple of times, beside me with a grin on his face last month. We just grinned at each other.

When I was down in Carson City the other day, I saw some doofus with a "No War For Oil" and a few other homemade sorts of bilge on his car. It irritated me at first, but I thought about making some of my own.

How about these:
"No Peace Without War"
"Tax the Poor"
"Peace Marches Support Terror"
"Earth First! We'll Mine Other Planets Later"
"Free America"
"Democrat: The Other White Lie"

Just a few I thought of off the top of my head.

A friend of mine in Hawaii, a FReeper, but not a frequent poster, told me a story about a year or so ago. He had been shopping at a local Walmart and when he was going back to his car there was a Beamer (I think he said) parked near him that had that bumper sticker on it. He was standing there looking at it when this flashy looking woman came out and noticed him reading her bumper sticker and said to him, "don't you just love that bumper sticker?" He replied, "not really. I am a Republican." Then he asked her, "if the road to hell is paved with Republicans, does that mean it is inhabited by democrats?" He said her jaw just dropped and she got in her car and drove off.

I love that story and it still makes me laugh. Hope it helps.
