The first ever Miss Germany with ginger hair says she's delighted at proving her doubters wrong.
Critics had argued Babett Konau's hair colour would stop the 24-year-old from winning the title.
She said her victory, ironically in the German town of Rust, proved being ginger was not an obstacle to becoming a beauty queen.
The dental assistant, from Schleswig Holstein, said: "It's a really nice feeling to know you can win - even with red hair."
Ms Konau has yet to decide whether she will continue working as a dental assistant, but added: "I hope I stay exactly how I am."
She beat 21 other competitors to the Miss Germany crown - winning a car and a trip to Egypt.
Miss North Rhine-Westphalia, Natalia Topmann, came second and Bavaria's Laura Mueller was third.
Miss Germany will now go forward to compete for the Miss World contest in November.
She is also forbidden from marrying or posing nude while she holds the crown.

As an expert (i.e., a woman) I opine that it looks like Russian Aubergine, a color not found in nature.
I did my hair that color my sophomore year of college (supposed to be temporary color, OOPS!) and my mother has never let me forget it.
And she does look old ... probably all the tanning salon time.

It's too dark - all our redheads are "blonder".

First the Germans are offending the Americans and the British, now they are being prejudiced against redheads? Now they're going to piss off the Irish .....

I have six children under 12. Stop by here overnight (share room with 2yo in throes of toilet training ...) and you too could have this color, dear! It gives me Authority ...

While we were later named Celts, I insist on our real name.
We are Neanderthal.
And we will win the breeding war.
At least, we try real hard.

I've got a 2 week old red headed niece in Durham Bump!
I've got 2 weeks worth of salt, pepper, and paprika facial hair, too.

and you too could have this color I prefer to think of what others call gray as "blond highlights" in my naturally brown hair (though my beard has definite red highlights in it).
And I've had enough of the adventures of toilet training with two boys, thank you very much.

Perhaps, in deference to their new middle eastern buddies the Iraquis, the Germans will now only approve of a raven-haired Miss Germany.
One question, though: isn't that crown a bit, er, Anglicized?

Inquiring minds must know: Is she a natural redhead. I volunteer for Inspection Team to verify this important issue.

Weaving and tax service available by mail (especially to no-income-tax Texas), and for the right price, the Middle-Eastern catering service will come to your kitchen! (We can all sleep in the van.)

Boris Becker has red hair. Maybe that's why they prosecuted him for tax evasion.

Modern beauty contests came to Europe from America. Miss America set the norm, and was followed by Miss World, Miss Universe, etc. So it's "Miss Germany." It's the same with "Miss France" in France.
