Park Ranger Cites Militia Leader, Seizes His Gun

A National Park Service ranger cited militia leader Chris Simcox Sunday for carrying a loaded weapon and operating without a permit at Coronado National Memorial in southeastern Arizona.

The chief ranger at the park south of Sierra Vista, Thane Weigand, said it appeared Simcox and William Dore were conducting a patrol of the border. "They were doing a special activity inside the park that's not sanctioned by the park," Weigand said.

Simcox, founder of the Tombstone group Civil Homeland Defense, has been conducting citizen patrols of the border area, but he said that's not what he was doing Sunday afternoon. He said he was simply hiking with Dore.

They were driving along Border Road when they came to a fence with a sign that said no vehicles were permitted, Simcox said. So they parked the van and walked past the fence along the road, not knowing the fence was the park boundary, Simcox said.

"Next thing I know, there's somebody waiting in the bushes for us," Simcox said.

It was a park ranger, who said she had been watching the pair, knew who they were and what they were up to, Simcox said. He and Dore were detained for about 3 1/2 hours, and some belongings were seized, Simcox said. Those belongings included a scanner, two two-way radios, his camera, a cell phone and his pistol.

Weigand said the charges against Simcox and Dore are misdemeanors.

Which part of illegal is most confusing to you?

Ruby Ridge, Waco, OKC, and 911 are all confusing to me. Perhaps you could enlighten me with your genius which was legal and which was illegal?

takenoprisoner says:   "Actually I am only curious about the public border patrols."

No, you came on a thread about private border patrols. But if you want to change it to the subject of public border patrols, have at it.

Waco? 9/11? I'll just assume you know you are wrong.

Like the Columbian cocaine king would say "plata o' plomo" silver or lead.

My detractors here haven't a clue what they defend. If they did, they too would be on those borders...that is if they are what they say they are...which I seriously doubt. More likely they are agents for the cocaine king.

How is using force to deter a felony a felony? Or are you forgetting that these two gentlemen did NOTHING wrong and were assaulted and robbed at gunpoint by the park ranger?

They had every right to use the tools at hand for self-defense.

Don't be such a moron.

Yep, Roscoe, we've definitely got a #5 here.

Look Dead Corpse, are you really this dense? Don't you get it yet? What does it take to get through to you? Don't talk about that crap here on FR. You want to go down in flames? Then go get your own website and do it there.

My opinion of the loudmouths on this board who talk trash like that is that most fall into one of the following categories:

Talk big, act small--when the JBTs come to take their guns, they'll be (at best) very subservient to the JBTs, at worst they'll be in the fetal position, peeing their pants;

Undercover informant looking to get a hard-of-thinking Freeper into trouble;

Someone play-acting at being a "real conservative" to paint conservatives as potentially violent nutcases

But that's just my opinion...

Excellent post - I think the same.

You have yet to provide any evidence that the two did anything wrong. As Roscoe has pointed out on other threads, and seems to stick to it no matter how many times he has his face rubbed in it, that the Second Amendment applies only to the FedGov. It cannot legislate against individual RKBA. Since this was a federal park, with a federal employee, then these two guys would have been well within their Rights to protect themselves.

If this woman had wanted them to sodomize each other while she held a gun on them, it would have been no different. It is a violation of basic human Rights either way. Since you can't seem to see that, it is safe to assume you are either a moral cripple of have yet to attain full adult mental faculties.

Are you such a pathetic excuse for a patriot that you just roll over whenever your federal masters say "Boo!"?

This is Mr. Robinsons website. If what I am posting is so onerous, then I will respect his wishes. Your opinion on the matter means presicely nothing. Attitudes like yours are why we are losing the fight to preserve our liberties from further encroachment.

Stay in Kalifornia. You and the State deserve each other.

Hey everyone, we seem to be nearing a concensus!

Don't bet on it. I still haven't gotten an answer from the gun grabber Roscoe. He asserts that the Constitution, and therefore the Secdon Amendment, only applies to the FedGov. If that is so, then under what authority was this Federal Employee acting under on Federal Lands? If there was no Constitutional authority for her to do what she did, then would it not be considered an armed robbery?

I'm not holding my breath waiting for one of his circular logic, one-liner answers.

Exactly right. And roscoe is not alone at FR in his gun-grabbing sympathies, incredibly enough.

This site has become infested with Rinos that claim that ALL levels of government, state/fed/local, can rule by majority will, by decree, ignoring our inalienable rights life, liberty, and property.

Yet they somehow claim they support a free republic. -- Go figure.

The best I've been able to get out of some of them is "Well, it's the Law". When you point out that a Law cannot run contrary to the Constitution and BE a Law, they just get all wet in the pants like a three year old.

Why Jim lets them run as rough-shod over logical debate here as he does, I can only guess. Without them, it'd just be a lot of us sitting around agreeing with each other.

I agree with the point that we need a loyal opposition at FR. [I suspect this is why JR tolerates me, in fact] The key word is 'loyal', imo.

Far too many of these 'Rinos' draw no line. - No rights are inalienable to them. ALL rights are subject to endless regulations by majority decree.
This is democratic nonsense, best left to sites like DU.

is it policy now that you are no longer allowed to carry personal firearms with which to protect yourself

that was my thinking exactly. My goodness, in the federal parks, like anywhere in the rural west it is a good idea to carry a gun out in the wild. THere are wild animals out there that can be dangerous. Mountain lions, wolves, bears. there are also criminal gangs down near the border. There are others who are dangerous also. It is very prudent to carry a gun when you hike in one of the parks.

One of my buddies here in Jersey is going to run for state assembly, he is an NRA life member and a Vet. He was debating a rat at a dinner regarding gun control. He knows his stuff about constitutional law and the democrat countered by saying "I don't care about anyone's 2nd ammendment rights if it means saving even one person from an accidental handgun death". This is the mentality we have to deal with. The constitution means nothing to democrats only their agenda does.
