Mid-Missouri FReepers hit the streets hard again today to counter the peaceniks march to the state capital. As expected, there were dozens of the critters, and only a few sane folks to keep perspective regarding Americas involvement in the Mid-East.
Zip, Mrs. Zip and Shane opened their store for pre-march planning. Prov helped with strategy so we could get the most exposure. Posters were mounted in the front window of the store before we left so the marchers would see Pro-American messages as they walked past on the way to the capital. Thumbs-up and waves started for the Pro-America posters before the march even began.
As the protesters walked past, we stood across the street and let them see some backbone. Of course, Mrs. Zip couldnt let the deluded peaceniks past without throwing back a few strong words to their heckles. They did not expect us, nor did they appreciate us. The news folks seemed to be delighted to have another view presented and quickly descended upon our small group. DogRobber gave an impressive interview, and Prov threw everything she had into making sure the journalists understood why we were there.
We caught up again with the peaceniks as they were entering the Capital Building, and the police asked us to leave the wooden part of our signs outside. We advised them we didnt want to go into inside and listen to their speeches; wed heard them all before. So, we stayed on the steps, and again reporters from all over interviewed DogRobber. Prov and I entertained ourselves listening to a couple straggling peaceniks pained explanations of why Saddam is so good and the USA is so bad. It really hurt the brain to try to follow their train of logic as it hit the reality wall, bounced off the track, and hurtled off the edge of Bonehead Bluff.
The highlight of the day occurred as we walked back to the shop. We passed a couple with a young child. They were from Iraq and were holding a sign stating that Hussein is a butcher and Iraq needs to be liberated. They had seen tremendous horror, endured the pain of losing loved ones to Saddams violence, and told us that the American soldiers know what they are doing
that they arent killing civilians like the peaceniks were alleging, but did a wonderful job with precision munitions. Due to either fear, or discomfort, they declined to be photographed. We explained that most Americans arent like the peaceniks they had encountered, that we knew Hussein was a madman, and that we wanted to see their country fit to live in again. After thanking them for having the courage to be there, we directed them to where their message would be better seen and walked on back to the shop. I am sure the sniffles we all seemed to get at that point were from the cold. Yes, thats it, it was the cold.
Anyway, BlueSage forgot to nag at DogRobber to take photos. So, we now have pictures courtesy of Shane! Thanks you guys. Once again, the peaceniks did not have as pleasant a day as they wanted, or the monopoly of media coverage they usually get. FReepers are the BEST!

Pre-game strategy and planning.

Peaceniks walk to the Capital

Peace signs never won a war, but these colors sure have!

On the steps of the Capital.

Super writeup. You were right about the cold causing the "sniffles" after talking to the young Iraqi couple. They were out there with their banner, braving the cold without gloves but declining Blues offer to give her gloves to them. Blue, you are an angel.
I have always wanted to give an award for the most idiotic sign held by the left BUT this time the award goes to the most idiotic statement. A middle aged hippie (trying to look like a young college type) stated that the US troops used "nuclear weapons" every day during the Gulf War and that he knew that because he was there for 3 years. I had to call him a Liar on that one. He also stated that the US used chemical weapons and that was the reason that 60 percent of all US troops had medical conditions.
Dogrobber, it is an honor to be on the same side of the issues with you and listen to your interviews with the various media types and your discussions with our less than honorable opponents. They can never refute your logical, sane comments on the issues.
It was worth standing in the cold just to let OUR troops know that real Americans support them.
Prov, thanks for driving down to join us. The gang rules.

We were only outnumbered 6 to 139 today so Quality over quantity rules again. Actually, their count of 139 doesn't show up on the pictures. It's more like 35 to 40 but using their million useful idiot math, I guess you could say they had 139 or 190 if that is what they want to say. Don't confuse them with honesty/facts/reality etc.
Hey Bret, we missed you. See you Saturday

I agree whole-heartedly!! This is an excellent report, Blue! I'm so glad the press is paying attention, too.

Thanks, you guys, for coming down to Jeff to help me out. And thanks, too, for posting this thread; that was an unexpected surprise.
What fun it was to show this group of peaceniks that they do not have a monopoly on speech or on the media! They were definitely surprised to see us.
Another great moment for me came before the event even began. As I was getting my poster and Old Glory out of the car, a policeman drove by and gave me a "thumbs up". That was great.
Another great Freep!

I caught the 10:00 news on KOMU. The couple we directed to the place to stand dominated the spot reserved for the peacenik rally! I don't even think they showed an interview with a peacenik!!!!! (Just pictures of them walking with their silly posters.) HOOOHOOOO! They FINALLY showed the people who should have been allowed to speak all along, gave them good exposure, and almost completely negated the purpose of the peacenik march at the capital. Now I am happy! Guys...you've done GOOD!

An interesting tidbit -- I ran into a friend while shopping tonight (who I had talked to earlier today) and she said she had called her son who teaches chem/biol/nuc warfare in the Army and asked him about the "nuclear" weapons use and the use of chemical agents in the Gulf. He said the hippie was absolutely insane. We never used chemicals but did blow up bunkers that may have contained such agents and that we never used nuclear weapons. So our response to the hippie was correct.
Maybe he should pop a couple of pills and check back into the "home" where his ridiculous comments aren't considered dumb.

Wow! So it was a Double Freep Weekend in Mizoo, eh? That's a lot of work and a lot of driving! And what great writeups from all of you as well. I think if the only thing I read every week out of FR were the Operation Infinite Freep reports, this would STILL be the best danged website on the internet.
To: CardCarryingMember.VastRightWC; Jim Robinson
...best danged site...You nailed it. This is where I go to get in-depth information on any/every subject.
Thanks, Mr Robinson, from your FRiends in Mid Missouri

Sounds like I missed a fun time! It's great that you all
showed up and let them know that anywhere they go around
Mid-Missouri, someone will be there to show the truth.
As for using nuclear and chemical weapons during the
Gulf War, what a crock. As much as the media reports
everything wrong with America, surely they would have
reported on something like that! Great job to all of you.

That was a great write up! It must have been really
interesting talking with the couple from Iraq. Since the
peaceniks only believe what they want, I'm sure the
sight of actual Iraq personnel would do little to change
their small minds. Such a shame.

I agree, it's enjoyable watching Dogrobber set the peaceniks straight. A lot of times if they try talking to me I'll send them his way because I know he's going to make a heck of a lot more sense than me and he can definately articulate it a lot better than me. I know I wouldn't want to argue with him unless I just wanted to lose the arguement.
