Pak Christians warn Bush of bloody backlash from Iraq attack
Agence France-Presse Islamabad, January 24
Leaders of Pakistan's Christian community, victims of a chain of deadly terror attacks by Islamic militants, have written to US President George W. Bush warning of a violent backlash if war is waged on Iraq, state media reported Friday. "We, the leaders of all the churches in Pakistan, are concerned that should the war begin it will provoke a global backlash of people who consider the people of Iraq as victims of aggression," the National Council of Churches in Pakistan (NCCP) and the Pakistan Catholic Bishops Conference wrote.
Signed by Archbishop Lawrence Saldhana and NCCP general secretary Victor Azariah, the letter raised fears of civilian casualties and the use of weapons of mass destruction, but highlighted particularly the risk of violent reprisals.
"It is very likely that nuclear or biological or chemical weapons will probably be used by whichever side begins to lose," said the letter, carried on the state-run Associated Press of Pakistan (APP).
"Even more horrifying is the likelihood that the war may not be limited to Iraqi soil.
"It can spill over, not just to the neighbouring Gulf States, but can lead to devastating reprisals by terrorists who are located all over the world, even in the United States."
Pakistani Islamic militants incensed at the US bombing of neighbouring Afghanistan have carried out 11 separate attacks against Christian and Western targets since October 2001.
Ten of them were deadly, claiming 70 lives. Four churches, a Christian school for foreign missionaries' children and a Christian welfare organisation were among those targeted.
The US launched its military campaign to wipe out the former Taliban regime and the al-Qaeda network they harboured, in response to the September 11, 2001 terror attacks by al-Qaeda operatives in the United States.
Saldhana and Azariah said the perpetrators of the September 11 attacks were trying to provoke a conflict between religions.
Christian leaders in Pakistan have complained that their community, representing less than three percent of the population of 145 million, was bearing the brunt of Islamic fury over the US-led bombing in Afghanistan.
"As Christian leaders of Pakistan, we strongly urge the US President George Bush and all those who are poised for war, to use every alternative means to settle the problem.
"Violence breeds violence. A nuclear holocaust must be avoided, lest the medicine prove to be worse than the disease."

That's what happens when you live in a Muslim country. Dhimmitude, or living on sufferance. I'm sure these people are very brave to hang on to their Christianity in Pakistan at all. But they are only allowed to live on sufferance, and even at that the Muslims bomb a few churches or kill a few "infidels" whenever they feel in the mood.

That's pretty much it.
The only way a Christian living in an Islamic country can be free is to escape to a non-Moslem area.

"As Christian leaders of Pakistan, we strongly urge the US President George Bush and all those who are poised for war, to use every alternative means to settle the problem. Right. Those who have been victimized by Muslim terrorists are now warning the only world leader with the guts to fight against terrorism, to cool it.
Once again we have the naive appeasers telling us that if we will just be nice to militant Muslims and their supporters who are bent on destroying the west...everything will be alright.
They need to wake up.

As a christian and a conservative who believes that the author of the holy bible is God; I must state that there is a great division in the church between the liberal christians and conservative christians and that this divison concerns the written word of God. We who believe every word is true from the book of Genesis to the Revalation (and read it) know that the liberal christians are incorrect in so many of their beliefs because they do not read God's word as absolute truth. The catholic church and many liberal protestant denominations do not even teach their congregation the word of God except for verse and chapter that reinforces their politically correct views.
I found out a while ago that the national and world council of churchs stand largely against the doctrines of the bible and this has and continues to cause a fissure between liberal and bible believing denominations. Many liberal denominations preach the social gospel which is much like the pc gospel; why can't we all just get along, why can't we all just hold hands and work and sing together?
They have become salt without savour, they have become a candle hid under a bed; they have become useless because of their lack of biblical doctrine which they believe seperates;they could not be more wrong.

The National Council of Churches stopped being leaders of all the churches anywhere a long time ago. They're more a mouthpiece for the DNC when they need something blessed by a someone with a Rev. in front of their name than anything else.

Right. Those who have been victimized by Muslim terrorists are now warning the only world leader with the guts to fight against terrorism, to cool it. Once again we have the naive appeasers telling us that if we will just be nice to militant Muslims and their supporters who are bent on destroying the west...everything will be alright. Reminds me of a story in the Mahabharat (ancient India) about appeasement. There was a demon near a town who would periodically enter the town and devour people randomly. So the townspeople made a deal - once a month one victim whould be chosen who would drive a cart loaded with food up to the cave of the demon, who would then devour the cart and victim and be quiet for another month. Then Bhima, the great warrior, came to the town. He took the place of the chosen victim, drove the cart up to the demon's cave (eating all the food) and then killed the demon.

The idiots really need to tell this to George Bush, for he thinks these are peaceable people. Since when have savages been called peaceable people?
