DEMONSTRATION TO PROTEST UNION TYRRANY - CSEA Hqtrs, Sacramento, Thurs., 1/30, High Noon
January 24, 2003 | Saundra Duffy

Posted on 01/24/2003 9:35:31 AM PST by Saundra Duffy

CA State Employees Assn (CSEA) endorses basically nothing but democrats. State workers have no choice but to belong to this union. It's like slavery; it's like extortion. You can opt out of a few dues but they force you to pay your "fair share" - money they steal from you and then turn around and use to support candidates and causes that you HATE!!! This keeps democraps in absolute power. What a racket!

Fat cats at the union are getting filthy rich on the back of working families. Meanwhile over a thousand state workers - including yours truly - are targeted by Gov. Davis's proposal for TERMINATION.

I tried to get a list of which candidates got how much money and here's the response I got from a CSEA official. I wrote back and called him a damn liar and nothing but a "useful idiot" for the democrats. Here's what that creep had the nerve to write to me:

CSEA does not distribute information regarding the individual contributions it makes to candidates and initiative campaigns. Being true to its task as a representative of state workers, CSEA supports candidates and initiatives that are favorable to state workers without regard to party or the positions candidates may have on other issues. Releasing the list of contributions only serves to anger (1) some members who are Democrats because we supported some Republicans, (2) some members who are Republicans because we supported some Democrats, (3) some pro-choice members because we supported some pro-life candidates, (4) some pro-life members because we supported some pro-choice candidates, etc. Again, CSEA's contributions to candidates and initiatives are based on its assessment of how state workers will be impacted, and are "blind" on these other issues; however the list of contributions only serves to anger some part of our constituency over issues on which CSEA does not take a position.

While CSEA does not make it a practice to distribute its list of contributions, it does comply with all the campaign disclosure requirements, and its contributions are part of the public record at the California Secretary of State's office.

Thanks, Comwatch for being there. Spread the word! I'm getting madder and madder at these CSEA creeps. Monday-Wednesday I'll be distributing flyers around the state buildings - before work, after work and during lunch time. A lot of workers are pissed right now. Can you blame them?

My take-home pay is $2,181/month; I'm an Office Technician. Meanwhile, the CSEA employees are getting rich and not having to worry about their jobs being terminated. Their salaries, by way of union dues/fees, are in no jeopardy of being cut. My program and my position, on the other hand, have been slated for termination by the gov. Go figure. The gov bites the hand that feeds him (CSEA) and then the CSEA turns around and bites the hand that feeds them (state workers)! It's a vicious cycle that needs to come to an end.

I am not a union member but I am forced to pay union dues. They call it "fair share". Fair share is the same as SLAVERY. Fair share is the same as EXTORTION. The union robs $23/month from me. I pay their salaries and their overhead which enables them to turn around the spit in my face every chance they get. I am pro life; they support virtually nothing but pro abortion candidates and causes. I am Republican; they support virtually nothing but democraps. I pay to get screwed.

The democraps have such a racket going here. Sheesh! You would laugh at the latest flyer from the CSEA that was distributed in my building! There's a picture of this guy, supposedly representing SEIU workers - he's wearing dark glasses, has a mean look on his face - he looks like a mafia boss - real scary looking. LOL!

News release to be FAX'd tomorrow morning:

State Clerical Worker Fed up with Union Rip-Off Plans Demonstration

State clerical worker, Saundra Duffy, is planning a demonstration at her union’s headquarters, 1108 O St., Sacramento, Thursday, Jan. 30, 12 Noon. She has been distributing the attached flyer to state workers in the capitol area.

Duffy is upset because the California State Employees Association (CSEA) refused to disclose how much union money it gave to political candidates in the 2001-02 election cycle. Patrick Haagensen of CSEA stated in an email to Duffy, “CSEA does not distribute information regarding the individual contributions it makes to candidates and initiative campaigns. . . CSEA supports candidates and initiatives that are favorable to state workers without regard to party or the positions candidates may have on other issues.”

“Unfortunately, this corrupt union donates our hard-earned money to, and endorses, the very politicians who have destroyed the state’s economy, thereby causing state workers to be laid off,” Duffy stated. “How stupid is that?!” Duffy’s position is just one of thousands targeted for elimination by Governor Davis’s proposed budget. “Meanwhile, the fat cats at CSEA are sitting pretty and not the least worried about losing jobs,” Duffy said.

Duffy is inviting all people concerned about deceit perpetrated by corrupt unions and corrupt politicians who have caused the worst economic conditions in the history of the state.

An Internet “thread” on this subject can be found here:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/828859/posts?page=26

Visuals: Home made signs; i.e., “Stop Union Tyranny” and “CSEA Betrays State Workers”

****

The flyer:

CSEA - BETRAYS State Workers

--Endorsed Gray Davis for Governor and now thousands will lose their jobs.

--Spends our union dues on politics rather than defending our jobs and benefits.

--Fat cats at the union are getting filthy rich on the backs of working families.

--CSEA exploits state workers, climbing in bed with corrupt politicians. Union goons and thugs are yucking it up while we workers suffer.

DEMONSTRATION

When: Thursday, January 30, High Noon

Where: CSEA Hqtrs., 11th & O (1108 O St.) Sacramento

Why: To protest CSEA's policies of extortion, exploitation and blatant disregard for the well-being of state workers.

Who: State Workers

Bring home-made signs ("STOP UNION TYRRANY!")

For more information contact Saundra Duffy, 443-6449

Please NOTE: All concerned citizens are welcome to attend the demonstration to protest union deception. All FReepers welcome!!

Hi Gophack! You listed PESCETTI on your list of pro-abortion folks. Are you sure he's pro-abortion??? I worked on his campaign a couple of years ago and I was lead to believe that he was prolife. Otherwise I wouldn't have helped him.

One way or another, the union just gives token amounts to pro life Republicans. Not sure about Peschetti. I KNOW Mike Briggs is pro life! They gave $150 to Dave Cox which I think is just so funny! They OBVIOUSLY did that so they could say, "See, we gave money to Republicans!" What a joke. Thanks for your post. I sure hope Peschetti turns out to be pro life.

P.S. HOW DO YOU THINK I FEEL?! They take my hard-earned union dues/fees and support virtually nothing but pro abortion candidates. This is sooooo infuriating!!!

No, I listed him as pro-life, just that he jumps in bed with the unions. I've always heard he was pro-life as well. If my comments were confusing, I apologize!!!!! :-)

Gophack - I'm preparing a "list of demands" to present to CSEA on Thursday. Got any suggestions? One will be to disclose CSEA's staff salaries (individually) and also the pattern of their raises over the last five years. What do you think? Thanks again for your help here. By the way, someone doubted CSEA spent ONLY $1.2 million. Do you think it might be more? Another demand is that CSEA divulge exactly how much, and to whom, they contributed to political candidates and causes.

Don't you think it's ironic that they are refusing to give me information? I've been keeping Eric Hogue of KTKZ radio and Dan Walters, columnist, advised of what I'm doing. Eric had shown some interest before the election when I raised a stink about CSEA endorsing Gray Davis. Grrrrrrrr. Hoping he'll help out this time around. I love that guy!! By the way, Eric Hogue is a bona fide freeper! Yahoo! (Not sure I trust Dan Walters but he can be fair when he puts his mind to it.) For victory & freedom!!!

My take home pay, as an Office Technician, is $2,181.61 per month. Why is the CSEA afraid/ashamed to tell me what their salaries are? I'd also like them to give me the pattern of their pay raises over the last five years. They have also refused to tell me which candidates received how much from CSEA. Gophack provided a list but why wouldn't CSEA give me the list? It's weird!

I heard that the President of CSEA received a 28% pay increase recently. CSEA refuses to confirm or deny this. It's infuriating!

Why does everything in California have to be so darned complicated?!

By law, they have to disclose to the Secretary of State. I actually would probably do the same thing as them and refer someone to the SOS for the reports. If I had an organization to run, I wouldn't want to spend staff time and money on pulling together reports, copying, mailing them when they are all available on-line already.

Second, if they spent more than they reported that would be a crime. But you would have to have proof. How? Find a contribution they didn't report. Almost impossible, wouldn't you say? You could compare the reports from every candidate to CSEAs report and make sure they match up, but that, to me, seems to be a waste of time unless you know for sure they are not disclosing and just need to find it. I don't think you know, but people are simply in disbelief that they only spent $1.2 million. I'm not. There are new contribution limits, so they can't spend what they have in the past.

Before you put together your demands, make sure you understand how the organization works. Public, private, dues, mandatory dues or voluntary, etc. Then come up with your questions and concerns. And don't call them demands. List them as questions, reasonable questions that reasonable people would want to know the answer to. For example, if you find out the dues are mandatory (I don't believe they are), then I would ask why they only gave 3.8% of their money to Republicans when Republicans make up XX% of state employees? (I have no idea how to find that information, I doubt you can.) But I just threw it out as an example.

Good luck!

Isn't it nice to know that six figure incomes go to those who least deserve it in organizations like the CSEA? They trade influence for favors and votes, nothing new here. Just more BS out of a socialist "public" entity.

Go Get 'em!!

if you find out the dues are mandatory (I don't believe they are),

Oh, but they are mandatory. You can opt out of "political" stuff but you're left with "fair share" giving. I pay $23.00 a month for my "fair share" which means I pay their overhead and salaries so they can be free to spit in my face with their hideous political shenanigans. They're nothing but political hacks for the democrats. Everyone knows that.

There is a way to opt out of union fees altogether but it's so difficult and so unjust few people can stomach it. The union gives you a choice of some hand-picked charities (the employee doesn't get to decide which charities she/he wants to choose from). The union provides a list to choose from; and then they will give your "fair share" to that charity. It's such a hassle and humiliating and stressful exercise, few can go there. I'm tellin' you THIS IS A MAJOR RIP-OFF.

I had two calls from union people today. The guy scared me a little but the woman was full of B.S. LOL! Sheesh. What have I gotten myself into? Anyhow, thanks for your help, FReeper pal. P.S. I think you're a little naive about the CSEA. For victory & freedom!!!

Thanks for the mega bump; I sure appreciate it. I went to Office Max and printed another 500 copies of the flyer tonight. I get up real early and distribute the flyer to state workers before work. I'm getting some very interesting comments.

I made several signs tonight. Can't afford to pay a printer to print fancy signs like the union does. I also bought 8 C batteries for my bullhorn.

Getting ready to rumble!!!!!!!!!!! For victory & freedom!!!
