OK RKBA Freepers, lets get to work! There are five (5) simple and quick things you can to to help us here in Arkansas to change this assinine policy.
First: Forward this article to Angel Shamya at www.keepandbeararms.com and the NRA (my aol is down-thanks for taking up the slack)
Second: Leave FEEDBACK at Alltel Arena at:
(Alltel Arena Feedback Forum) or email them at: arena@alltelarena.com
Third:Contact the Arena BOARD where this crap policy came up by mail or phone at:
ALLTEL Arena
One Alltel Arena Way
North LIttle Rock, AR 72114
Phone: (501) 340-5660
Fax: 501-340-5668
email: arena@alltelarena.com
These are the the culprits:
ALLTEL Arena Staff
General Manager Michael Marion - antigunner
Office Manager Tami Warmington
Box Office Manager Ellen Yehling
Assistant Director Jason Fowler (he took my complaint) and was VERY, very nice and supportive of my position.
Director of Operations Wesley Holmes
Forth: Contact the NLR City ATTY Paul Suskie who is pro-gun, and ask him to quietly lean on the board to change their policy for off-duty cops.
City Attorney: Paul Suskie
City Attorney's Office
P. O. Box 5757
North Little Rock, AR 72119
Phone: 501-340-5336
Email: psuskie@alltel.net
Last thing you can do is contact Terry Hastings at Little Rock Police Department Media/Press Relations at: 501-371-4626 and give him praise for standing up to this assinine policy. I left a short message on his answering machine.
Thanks pro-gun, RKBA Freepers, and forward this to all your battle-buddies!

I have noticed a truism in my lifetime.
The only way to get oppressive, onerous rules repealed is for those same rules to apply to the rule makers/enforcers.
Absolutely - if citizens cannot carry firearms into a public place, neither can off-duty police officers. Policemen are not "special" citizens who are above the rules for other citizens.

For some reason to get this a thread to the bang_list one has to put in the '*' before the bang_list

The policy is stupid, but it's going to be hard to generate sympathy for the police officers if their union has ever taken a stand against RKBA for their fellow citizens.

Some bozo recently signed up with "bang_list" as his user name. I guess he wanted to get pinged, but couldn't figure our how to read the bang_list.

I second MrB. If the citizens dont carry then the cops dont carry. Maybe you can explain why a walking ego with lower that average IQ who cant hit the inside of a barn with their service weapons should be allowed anywhere near a crowded public place? (flamers: consult pay scales, wonderlic, and shooting statistics)

Please refresh me on the hierchy of citizens. I'm a little rusty.
Lets see:
1 -federal government elected official
2 -federal leo
3 -appointed federal official (judges)
4 - State elected officials
5 - state and local leo's
members of the bar
7-99 - yada yada yada
100- white, law-abiding privately employed males
-----------
My point- Off duty cops have no more rights than any other citizen.

I believe the judges are higher on your list - they aren't even subject to removal at the next election.

Mixed feelings. Sounds like the action of a typical gun ban advocate. On the other hand why should police officers be different? If I read the AG opinion correctly a citizen of Arkansas can ban police officers from carrying guns into his home.

The more law enforcement officers that are disarmed in crowd
situations the more powerful criminals can become.
Lets see, if peasants as one poster cited cant carry Guns then why should off duty cops.
Well the more badges and Guns in the crowd situations after 9-11 the better, is my take. If it was'nt for alot of Off Duty Cops and Fireman giving up their lives in New York and Oklahoma City, many lives would not be saved.
I would rather trust a licensed Gun in the Crowd than otherwise.
God Bless the Peace Officers and God Bless America!

They can't allow crazed psychos intent on blowing a large crowd away to be shot by an armed citizen, even if that citizen is a police officer. Seems like they are cooking up another Jonesboro, albeit in a auditorium this time.
