I just found out habañeros grow well here in Wisconsin. I thought I may be too far north, but am assured they do well. I may have to plant a small garden this summer :)

You can keep them in the house if they don't do well outside. If we can find some starter plants, no doubt we'll grow habanero this year too. We actually just had 2 good-sized jalapeno plants in large pots on the back porch. We tried to start them from seeds a couple summers ago (we live in NJ) and had little success, so last year we bought small plants at our favorite local garden center and transplanted them into huge pots. They did very well for us - got very large and strong. I CAN'T WAIT FOR SPRING!!! :)

Maybe I'll order some seeds from
The Jung Seed catalog now and start them indoors, then transplant in the spring.

Hey girls, I have grown my own herbs and peppers (4 types) for years in 12 gal plastic milk jugs cut back to about 3/4 and holes punched in the bottom. I kept the handles on so I can easily move the plants around at various times of the year, also the dirt is low (pebbles first, then up to about 1/2 full with rich potting soil) and the lips create sort of a green house, which is perfect for germination. These babies thrive and produce enough high quality fresh herbs all year long to keep us, my neighbors and daughters (who pinch them when they visit..LOL) in great food any time we want or need them. The trick is not allow them to get leggy and tall stems by trimming frequently. I use the trimings by chopping the leaves and putting them in ice cube trays with water, and freezing, then into marked freezer bags for later use, at about 1 teaspoon of fresh herbs in each cube. Kinda like a male Martha3b ....taking bows...smirk...ha!

Whoa...Red Savinas are {{{{{EXTRA HOT}}}}} as in the heat has been recorded as high as 525,000 Scoville Units... YIKES. The Caribbean Red Habanero heat has been recorded as high as 475,000 Scoville Units. The typical Habanero pepper has a heat range of 200,000 to 300,000.
Iraq could be growing these instead of building Nukes and have the same effect...Bwhahahahahahhah

The sequel to "Soup, Sex, and the Single Man".. How do we get our hand on these????
I'm, of course, referring to the 'single man' part of the title.

I've only found Red Savinas at a speciality shop in New Orleans and the Hong Kong Markets popping up in most major cities. I've heard you can grow them by ordering seeds at GNS Spices...but we have a pro that can advise us on this...Pinging The Shrew

To my knowledge Red Savinas are being sold by the folks at GNS. They are a good company I have purchased from them in the past. They also sell a large variety of other chilies including Habenero.

By the way, if you throw in some ginko biloba, it stokes the libido.
That's from my upcoming book " A Guide To Sexual Amnesia."
