I'll crossover and vote for Sharpton in the primaries. In fact, I think we all should, at least those who have the option.

Edwards also has the persona of a girlie-man. But then, most Dems are girlie-men, so that may help.

I hope when he loses Sharpton runs as a third party. He would take a lot of the black vote. However I am not positive the blacks will vote for him even in the primaries. I think most just vote for whoever the party tells them to.

I don't even think we have to switch registrations here, only ask for a RAT ballot when we go to the polls.
Note to self: remember not to use the word "RAT" when asking for ballot.

Prognosis:
Lieberman has heavy odds against his even getting the nomination, and his odds of winning the national election are not good. In contrast, Bush is shaping up as the 2:1 odds on favorite for a 2nd term. Sorry, but this is the sort of analysis I hate, because it's wrong. Well, maybe not the Bush part. But as for the Veeps, their lack of success has very very little to do with the fact that they were VP nominees. It has to do with the question: were they chosen as VP nominees because they were seen as good presidential material some day? Or were they chosen to "balance a ticket" or win a key state? Lieberman was chosen for three reasons: attract independents with his conservative rhetoric; be a historical first as a Jewish nominee; and insulate Gore from charges of lying Bhuddist temple Slick Willie corruption. Notice that "displays leadership qualities" isn't on there. If Evan Bayh had been the VP pick in 2000 he would probably win the nomination in 04 because he does have presidential nominee qualities in addition to VP "qualities".

You are probably right. I think there have been a few polls testing her name against some of the others and the results were in that range. But she won't run until the presidency is an open seat, although I'd venture to say that she'll probably do everything she can behind the scenes to defeat the 2004 Dem candidate so the way will be clear for her in '08. If she was really as smart as the media claims, she'd leave the senate, run for governor of Arkansas (NY is out of the question if Rudy wants it), win there, then run for president from outside Washington.
Only three sitting members of Congress (two senators and one rep who was a senator-elect) have ever won the presidency. It's an oddity of history that all three (Garfield, Harding and Kennedy) died in office.

"Just wait until Carol Moseley Braun announces. She'll mop the floor with these clowns" Rush was saying today that he thinks Donna Brazile is behind that as a way of offering the black RATS a more attractive option than Sharpton. This could get interesting and be good for some laughs, that is if we can stand all the squealing, moaning and caterwalling that will be coming out of the RAT cellar.

There just ain't no way that the Americans are going to vote for a jewish president when the muslims continue with their terror.

[Rush] thinks Donna Brazile is behind that as a way of offering the black RATS a more attractive option than Sharpton. This could get interesting and be good for some laughs... I would like to see a half-dozen of them jump in... Maxine Waters, Charlie Rangel, Jesse Jackson, Angela Davis... the more, the merrier.
I can hardly wait to see the Democratic Nomineee Debates with ten or twelve candidates.

Zell Miller will not be on the ticket in 2004. Period. The problem is that the Dems have a trade-off. They can have a Southerner or go conservative and pick-up Arkansas. They then will likely lose some narrowly won more liberal states from 2000. Gore's 2000 states aren't in the back pocket of the 2004 nominee.
To: dirtboy
Is it a coincidence that Zel announced his retirement about the same time it came to light that Hillary was calling the shots for the Dem party?

Edwards is going to use Clinton's 'strategery' for his campaign, and Bubba will be his mentor. It should be interesting to watch. The Democrat party is split between the Clinton and Gore faction, with the Gore faction appealing to the base, and oddly enough Lieberman being with the Southern Strategy Democrats. The Southern Strategy Democrats just means they will talk more conservative but govern like a Liberal just the same.

Lieberman will not be president, even if he secures the nomination. A Northeastern Democrat Senator has not won the Presidency since 1960.
In contrast, 4 out of the last 5 Presidents have been governors. 3 of Southern States (Texas, Arkansas, Georgia).
If the Democrats were serious, they would be trying to find someone out of the statehouse from somewhere in flyover country. They have shown no indication of this.
