Patty's folks tried to laugh this one off, and used their press connections in Seattle to try the "oh, it's just those right-wing extremists twisting this for partisan purposes" line that was so very effective during the Clinton regime. What they have been getting has astonished them - this isn't dying down, and the tapes make the usual denial/make counteraccusations ploy impossible.

But honestly, this would have been a bit blatant even were it not for her sudden notoriety - I'd like to think that Washington state politics is on everybody's lips down there 1500 miles away but I just kinda doubt it, and she just does happen to chair a certain funding committee...not that that had anything to do with a fundraiser halfway across the country... Weren't these the folks bleating about campaign finance reform?

Sounds great, I'm in the mid-west and have sent some e-mails and a letter against this woman that has twisted her words. Have you noticed she has been on the Senate floor at least twice, and I'm just flipping channels, so Dasshole has really been putting her front and center with all sweetness. Especially about funding the war, I think.

I'd like to see the actual tape of her speech. Any links?

Yeah, and she did a 10-minute call-in to a local conservative talkshow yesterday, insisting that the only correct course of action was to rally around the boys and girls and go get those nasty Ay-rabs. I can tell you because I know these people personally, it's driving her folks in Seattle absolutely nuts. But if they don't stomp this one out by this time next year Patty'll be looking for a post-Senatorial job heading into her 2004 re-election campaign.

It isn't going away. Patty committed a mortal sin in politics - she not only was caught lying (on camera) but it was a lie that made her and her followers look stupid. She even managed to tick off the Peace Corps types, who are usually bedrock supporters. Her defenders then compounded the sin by trumpeting that she was only trying to make the poor stupid kids think, which ticked them off as well. The normally liberal local Vancouver rag has found itself with a national scoop on its hands, and given the choice between party loyalty and ink, they're grabbing all of the ink it'll bring them.

Well, there's a lot of ground between here and November 2004, but if Bush pulls off a regime change in Iraq with minimal bloodshed and addresses the North Korean situation as well, Patty's going to be reduced to running on the state economy (lousy, and in the hands of Democrats at the moment). She'll need that post-Senatorial job. Hey Patty, can you say "you want fries with that?" I knew you could...

I haven't seen it on the 'net yet, but here's a link to a TRANSCRIPT.

As you can see, it wasn't much longer than Lott's faux paus, but it (oh, I've been waiting to use this Dubyaism) "resignated."

But WHY? She needs to explain to us AGAIN just what it is about Osama, she finds so admirable.
This is a great opportunity for her.

Osama Momma is the biggest moron in the Senate, according to a discrete poll of her peers in Roll Call.

She also too arrogant to really apologize as she slips into an ever deeper pit, everytime she opens her big, fat, orally flatulent, vile, liberal, lying mouth.

Not even the Taleban's propaganda machine would lavish such praise on Osama -- no one would believe it. Mom Murray: the Terrorist in Shoe Bombs.
