My guess is that testing for a GED is involved in that two weeks of paperwork the recruiter is touting. This military is all volunteer and as such, posts definite requirments. If this recruiter really is trying to buck the system, he won't last long.
That having been said, 17 and above can sign up with parental consent, and seniors in high school (at least any halfway intelligent ones) would pass a GED without blinking twice. So it's very possible this guy is legit. I'm a big supporter of the Corps, but as my name suggests... I chose a different way. Bullet Sponge Marines have a little bit less of a need for Calculus or advanced Electrical Engineering if you get my drift.

That having been said, 17 and above can sign up with parental consent, and seniors in high school (at least any halfway intelligent ones) would pass a GED without blinking twice. Bad idea! What's wrong with finishing the semester and getting a high school diploma? While the armed forces might accept a GED, there are quite a number of universities that only accept applicants who have high school diplomas. While some potential recruits don't plan on going to college, they might change their minds later. It would be a serious mistake to not get a high school diploma first and then decide whether to enlist in the Marines.

"Bullet Sponge Marines"?
"Bullet Sponge Marines"
Would that be similar to a "wing walker" of perhaps a zoomie, or a member of a organization that's been around for... what 60 years, comeback when you've been around at least a century sonny boy, and don't bring your "stress card" it don't mean a thing to those in a real branch of the armed forces.
The only thing that the zoomies did right is designed a force where they send the "O's" out to do the fighting.

Your actual drift is that you're a nonhacker. You chose the easy way, punk.

I was an air controller, trained to operate 3 different radar systems, the AN-TPQ-10, the AN-TYA-3, and the AN-TPS-32. Trained to operate the AN-UYQ-3 radio van, the TSQ-122 communication shelter, drive and operate the MRC-87, TRC-75, PRC-25 and PRC-75, PRC-77 and PRC-47. Called in Air Strikes, MEDEVAC, Troop Resupply and Radar Guided bombing, also guided aircraft from takeoff to hand off to the FAC. Qualified for the CORPS with a 135 GCT score in 77. Dropped only 4 points in Boot Camp.
Had to go to school for all that. Funny, when I worked at Kaman Aerospace on SH-2's for the Navy, all I had to do was show up with a wrench and they showed me what to do.
Yeah, Calculus. I am an engineer now, and still dont need it for manufacturing or designing. Graduated with a 3.97 GPA.
Yeah. Marines are stupid. Right.
At least we dont dress like SkyCaps in the airport when in uniform.

When I entered the Marines in 1981, a high school diploma was a requirement. I doubt they have relaxed those rules since then. Like RaceBannon, I trained for over a year and a half before I could even perform my MOS and I trained on much of the communication gear that he worked on. Except my GCT was a 143!
You chose to be an Airman and there is nothing wrong with that. Uncle Sam needs people in all branches of the armed services. Nobody needs to be ragging on the other branches of the service. Especially in times such as this.

One Sorry elitist comment about Marines as Bullet sponges.
