Families of Sniper Shooting Victims To Sue Rifle Maker
Thu Jan 16, 8:13 AM
() - The families of two sniper shooting victims will file a lawsuit Thursday against the maker of the rifle used in the attacks, and the shop where the gun was sold or stolen.
The suit is brought on by the families of James "Sonny" Buchanan and Conrad Johnson.
It alleges that Bushmaster firearms and Bull's Eye Shooter Supply of Tacoma, Washington, showed "gross negligence" that "caused injuries and death."
The owners of the store, Brian Borgelt and Charles Carr and sniper suspects John Allen Muhammad and John Lee Malvo are also named as defendants.
The families are seeking unspecified damages.
The Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence is representing the families, who are seeking unspecified damages.
Bushmaster officials say they did nothing wrong by selling the gun.
The owners of the gun shop did not comment.

Instead of Bushmaster, they should sue Bush and the Admnistration. Malvo is an illegal alien whom the INS had let go, thanks to corrupt "catch and release" INS policies backed by Jorge "pro-illegal alien/open borders" Bush.

They should sue manufacturers of white vans for distracting the searchers and making it take so long to catch them. Then they should sue the maker of the car they were in (including all previous owners) for allowing the car to get in the killers' hands and also for not making the trunk tough enough to stop them from cutting a sniping hole in it. Let's not forget any gas stations and maintenance shops the car was ever in. Why are they leaving the malls and stores out - if they didn't lure the victims there, they couldn't have been shot.
And I'm just warming up - give me a little time and I can get them lots of co-defendents to go after...

We MUST have tort reform!!!
Unless idiots like these people and the principleless prostitutes who represent them in attorneys' garb are FORCED to apay ALL court costs PLUS attorneys' fees for the defendants when they lose AS THEY WILL, this will continue.
In the MEANTIME, Bushmaster and the Gun Shop should COUNTERSUE the complainants for slander and defamation of character. The NRA should assist them. WHY NOT???
Wny not sue the Feds for letting this low-life Malvo in here in the first place??
If a car is used to kill somebody, can the victims' families sue General Motors, etc???

Yes he was. I was corrected. Any place I said "Malvo" just replace it with Muhammed.
My dumb. I could say something cute, but I won't.

Let's hope Malvo never sees 20! I wish Muhammed a nice wait on death row, being visited by the Aierian Brotherhood every day. For some reason, coarse grit sandpaper and salt comes to mind.

Bushmaster Firearms was sued by Los Angeles police officer Martin Whitfield after he and several other officers were injured in a 1997 bank robbery shootout in which the LAPD was seriously outgunned by robbers packing assault weapons. This is from the link...news to me, as I thought those boobs were using AK's modified to full auto. Assuming this is the North Hollywood shootout.

Haven't posted much lately, but this crap has stirred me up to be sure.
To attempt to profit from the death of your loved ones is to p*ss on ther graves in every sense of the word. I hope that the victims are turning in those graves at the way these familes are allowing themselves to be used by Brady and the rest of Satan's little helpers in return for a chance to prostitute their loved one's tragic deaths into a nice payday. Whores. Every last one of them. Harsh? Yes. But the truth hurts.
Several of the Firearms sites I frequent have started an online petition... Sign it and let's send these soulless ghouls a message.

I hope Bushmaster sues them back. Are there any lawyers (nothing deragotory meant by that term, in this instance anyway...) on FR who can tell us if this is possible? We need a suit that will slam the Brady bunch BIG TIME. And to think the poor mom and pop gun shop is being sued too. Probably put them out of business with the first week of legal bills for their defence.
To: RLK
Maybe they'll also sue McDonalds for selling the hamburgers... Already happening but by fat people. Seriously.
To: 69ConvertibleFirebird
And to think the poor mom and pop gun shop is being sued too. Mom and Pop gots some 'splainin' to do, from what I've heard. 230 guns unaccounted for, but last known to be in their possesion, weapons "thefts" unreported.

The answer to this sort of nonsense is more Conservative, better intellectually grounded Judges. This sort of case is absurd. Under the same theory, anyone killed in a car accident would have a case against the car manufacturer, even though the car involved worked perfectly. The fact that someone misuses a tool, does not create a cause of action against the tool maker.
There is an interest in a well armed civilian population, which is being totally ignored in the popular media. The Founding Fathers went to some pains to encourage a healthy domestic firearms industry; openly advocating a well armed public. (See The Right To Keep & Bear Arms.) They had a clear understanding of how a healthy society functions. Far too many in our times, have lost their way amidst the babble of Socialist dogma--the propaganda for a dependent public, held in the lead strings of an egalitarian collective.

The crooks in Tacoma were selling weapons under the counter without proper paper work and deserve to get sued. Correction: The crooks in Tacoma were selling weapons without unConstitutional paperwork.

Maybe the gun shop didn't report a missing gun but does that fix the blame on them for the sniper shootings? Geeze, I guess I had better look up the local law to see if I am liable if someone steals one of my guns then, months or years later, shoots someone or something with it.
Was Mohammed not allowed to buy a rifle but the shop sold it to him anyway? That's about the only thing I can see them getting into trouble for.
