A driver who, according to police, has never been licensed is accused of causing three injuries in a Monday afternoon wreck. Sherry L. Carter, 31, of Rockvale was driving a car that hit the rear of a car driven by Beatriz A. Canasco, 27, Archery Lane, at the West Jackson Street-Pencil Street intersection. Three passengers in the Canasco car -- Jasmin Rodriguez, 26, Oscar D. Ozuna, 4, and Giancarlo O. Rodriguez, 1, all of Quarry Street -- were transported to Bedford County Medical Center by Bedford County Emergency Medical Service after the 3:35 p.m. wreck.

"While investigating the accident I discovered she had never been issued a driver's license but had a lengthy history of offenses resulting in a revoked status," said Officer Bill Logue. Carter was charged with second offense driving on a revoked license.

Huh? Never had been issued a license, but was charged with driving on a revoked license? Confusing.

In Texas, you can't get your annual car inspection done without proof of car insurance. And Texas cops are quick to spot expired inspection stickers.

There's ways around that of course. I'm in Texas and what a lot of people here do is get New Mexico or Mexico plates even if they live in Texas so they don't need insurance. The thing most do and the insurance companies will tell you is they make the minimum payment for insurance to get the proof and then never make another payment ---letting it lapse after the first month.

You can also get the annual inspection sticker without your car passing inspection and without insurance if you know the right places to go, of course you have to pay them a little "extra" but it's often done.

Yes, you're right, I wasn't thinking about that.
