Does anyone know when in 2001? There may be a correlation between the time they were busted, their trial, and conviction with the time Townshend posted his 'A Different Bomb' on his web site.

I'm not sure when they were convicted, but Thomas Reedy was sentenced on August 6, 2001 to 15 years for each of the 89 counts with which he was charged. His final sentence totaled 1,335 years in prison. Now THAT's a life sentence.

Townsend is just one of many Brits who subscribed. There was a mass arrest in Britain before the holidays - even one policeman was a subscriber. Looks like they took their time and moved very carefully on Townsend.

Mr. Townshend admits he visited a web site advertising child porn, but he said it was for research on an upcoming autobiography. Mr. Townshend said he was abused as a child said he has campaigned against child pornography.

That is such a bogus excuse. Even if he is truthful about being abused a a child, how could viewing child porn possibly assist one in either healing old wounds or writing an autobiography? It just doesn't make sense.

Even if Pete Townshend did have a bad childhood, he of all people, should be over it. I mean, he's had a wonderful life since childhood being a rich and famous rock star. Millions of people would have gladly traded places with him.

Poor Pete; over 1300 arrests, including 50 cops, some judges, Members of Parliament, other celebs, and he gets dragged through the global mud.

A man in my town - a college professor - is under investigation for possession of child porn. Don't know if he'll try the "research" defense.

This story might have real legs...the child-abuse scandals of Omaha, Nebraska AND the Ultimate Evil, Son of Sam case both include ritual child sacrifice by way of Fort Worth...

I don't understand how paying for child porn helps one understand it any better. Maybe by paying for it he too could feel what the perverts feel as they pay for kiddie porn.

You he must have been into it pretty good to actually pull out a credit card and pay. I bet he was surfing the free kiddie sites and then wanted more action without all the hassle of busy free sites, so he thinks he'll just pay for his next fix of kiddie porn.
