oh ha ha ha.. you are so funny. Are you a professional comedian?
did you actually follow the thread or are you just using me as a straight man?
Glad to see you support torture though, way to go guy. And not that you probably care, but my diet is great... I even run marathons on a diet with no meat, dairy, eggs, etc. Amazing huh?

I'm glad you have a thick skin. It was in fun. Actually I'm usually a nice guy. Stuff like this only bothers me when I find out someone is not a Christian. Then I wonder if that someone is judging God by the likes of me. I'd hate to think someone never accepted Jesus and ended up in hell, over something stupid like I called them a "chicken psychiatrist". Jesus would definitely do better. I've gone through some excercises comparing my attitudes and traits to Jesus'. I have a long way to go to be transformed into His likeness. Fortunately my salvation doesn't depend on that. Jesus did offer a little name calling of his own, but it was reserved for the Pharisees - people who were supposed to know God's word but were in fact leading them astray.

I am really very surprised the P-G took such a reasonable stand on this thing.

I am really very surprised the P-G took such a reasonable stand on this thing. It shouldn't be surprising at all.
The 'Burgh is still very much a blue collar town.
It's values are significantly different than the Left Coast whacknuts.
Here's another P-G article reflective of that difference: Munch goes to Carnivores

I read something a while ago, and it's so true.
"You are the only Bible that some people have read."
I have a large contigent of Christians in one of the most populous churches in the state nearby. The people on Sunday nonetheless are so incredibly rude, in parking, in flipping people off who are in their way, and in their driving.... I'd hate to see them on a day not reserved for worship.
It's not why I'm not a Christian, but it's part.

On behalf of all Christians, I apologize for their behavior.
You need to understand that Christianity is a process.
It starts with acceptance of Jesus which pays the price for your sins and assures you of salvation. That doesn't automatically make you a better person, just forgiven.
As a Christian realizes the great love that God has for us, then their love for God grows, and eventually they seek to be more obedient to Him and to love others the way that He does. But that can take years, or decades. It requires a lot of spirtual discipline, primarily prayer and bible study and practice. And sometimes a Christian doesn't mature at all.
Even the great apostle Paul who wrote most of the New Testament records that he struggled. And you look at some of the great biblical heros, everyone of them had sin. Moses spent over 40 years in the wilderness between the time that God called him until his Character was sufficient to actually proceed with leading Israel out of Egypt. Paul also spent some years in the wilderness learning from Jesus, before he was ready to lead and he still struggled.
As you mature as a Christian, God reveals more and more behavior that's inappropriate. We are called to be transformed into the image of Christ, but it's not a quick process. When the rapture occurs we will be changed and we will be like Him.
But please remember, Jesus is what we aspire to, it's not what we are. In addition to the many immature Christians, there are also people who claim to be Christian who are not.
I'd be glad to address any thing else that causes you to have doubts about Christianity.
