Someone started a thread on a Car-Guy/Gearhead forum I frequent raging about this anti SUV article:
http://www.auto.com/industry/nus...030109.htm
To my surprise (given the Gear Head nature of the web site) darn near 95% of the responses to this issue were anti SUV and degraded into a left love fest with Bush Bashing, Iraq War Bashing, and most of all a bunch of class warfare tax em to hell attitudes. I had to take a second look to be sure I was not inadvertently in a DU forum!
Right minds are desperately need in the discussion. Debating is not one of my strong points most frustrating... Anyway, if any of you out there are the type that enjoys debating Taxes, Freedom, and Roles of a Super Power with the left leaning types feel free to chime in :)
The thread is at

Be polite now ;). I like the forum as long as it steers clear of politics. If youre a gear head, its a swell place with a lot of good knowledge.
Now since this seems to be the "vent your spleen" topic ... let me add that in general I despise SUVs. They are the antithesis of pro-touring: heavy, poor-handling, poor-performing beasts that require more driving skill than many of those that drive them possess. Granted, some of them are legit: for truck-like things like towing, hauling tools, and the like. But why in the world there is a thing called a Cadillac Escalade is way beyond me.
That being said, I don't believe the government should take any action - least of all raising taxes - with the intent of hounding SUV drivers off the road. I simply wish the fad of people buying SUVs so they can look cool would pass - and, no, most SUV drivers do not in my experience comport themselves on the road as mini-van drivers do. Otherwise, I'm not much inclined for scrapping around on the net, so I'll just stick around here where I try & keep out of everyone's gunsights. ;)
