A SURVIVOR of the Turkish Airlines crash has told how she landed on a stack of hay.
The five survivors of the crash were yesterday named as Aliye Il the only woman to have survived Celal Toprak, Murat Karamutlu, Abdullah Altindag and Gencel Gunes.
They were all in hospital with injuries ranging from burns to broken bones.
Ms Il said she was ejected from the plane and found herself sitting in the hay right after the crash. Two other men on the flight were nearby, she said.
"As the plane was landing there was a great crash," she said yesterday.
"As soon as the plane made contact with ground there was an explosion, flames were everywhere.
"I landed on straw.
"The plane had broken into two and was on fire, and then I heard a large explosion.
"The straw then started burning and I jumped into the field. The whole plane was on fire.
"I undid my seat belt and ran outside toward a field and heard a second explosion.
"The soldiers then came and took us to the hospital."
Celal Toprak said from his hospital bed in Diyarbakir that he had suffered cuts to the head and bruises as well as burns on his body.
"There was abnormal fog at the airport," he said.
"I heard a loud explosion right before we were to land, it felt like my ear exploded . . . I heard a loud explosion after the crash.
"At first I thought there was a war. 'Is this an attack?' I didn't think it was a crash."

Turkey in the Straw (Karaoke)
(Sing Along)
As I was a-goin'
On down the road
With a tired team
And a heavy load
I cracked my whip
And the leader sprung
I says day-day
To the wagon tongue
Turkey in the straw
Turkey in the straw
Roll 'em up and twist 'em up
A high tuck a-haw
And hit 'em up a tune called
Turkey in the Straw
Went out to milk
And I didn't know how
I milked the goat
Instead of the cow
A monkey sittin'
On a pile of straw
A winkin' at
His mother-in-law
Turkey in the straw
Turkey in the straw
Roll 'em up and twist 'em up
A high tuck a-haw
And hit 'em up a tune called
Turkey in the Straw
I came to the river
And I couldn't get across
So I paid five dollars
For a big bay hoss
Well, he wouldn't go ahead
And he wouldn't stand still
So he went up and down
Like an old saw mill
Turkey in the straw
Turkey in the straw
Roll 'em up and twist 'em up
A high tuck a-haw
And hit 'em up a tune called
Turkey in the Straw
Did you ever go fishin'
On a warm summer day
When all the fish
Were swimmin' in the bay
With their hands in their pockets
And their pockets in their pants
Did you ever see a fishie
Do the Hootchy-Kootchy Dance?
Turkey in the straw
Turkey in the straw
Roll 'em up and twist 'em up
A high tuck a-haw
And hit 'em up a tune called
Turkey in the Straw

Sometimes I can't stand how funny people are here.

Hey Shermy.. Looks like Knighthawk has a few a$$holes on his ping list.. But since he mainly posts muslim hate, that doesn't come as much of a surprise...

Sometimes I can't stand how funny people are here. Me either, especially when they have the same idea as I do and post it before I get a chance (I was all set to post my "Turkey in the Straw" reference, until I discovered that someone had been faster).

Maybe. But after encountering the
oeuvre of Oxi-Nato, I'm pretty desensitized to invective here.
BTW, that haystack story is amazing. These airplane mishap stories seem to be picking up lately. I guess because it's winter.

I wonder if the survivors were sitting in the aft portion of the plane?

Yeah.. Oxi was a loser in the true sense of the word.
This was not just pilot error. The flight had been delayed a number of times, and should never have been allowed to take off, especially when Diyarbakir has no guidance systems installed.. I want to call her lucky, but damn...

The husband of a friend of someone in my lab (they were just married last April) was killed in this crash. He was over there on business.

Lucky people.
I wonder if it would make sense to surround airports with straw.
To: aristeides
If it were flame retardant that wouldn't be a bad idea. Most people died in the fire that broke out after the crash.

Goo post. I can't believe how heartless some people are in this forum. There are spme things that one must just not joke about. Appauling behaviour to say the least.

I read your profile page. Here are a few less Muslims for you to worry about:
If you had actually read (reading includes understanding) my profile page, you wouldn't have said something so gratuitously base. You're assuming that a description of the political history of Islam means I hate Muslims. That's an illogical--and incorrect--inference. That would be like claiming that someone who points out the heterodox nature of Mormonism or Russellism hates Mormons or Jehovah's Witnesses or would be glad to see them die. That's unwarranted.

Why I am amazed that with such a narrow perspective one could be as well versed as you are. My interpretive abilities have always been A+, and I am sure I understood you correctly. If there is but one civilization which hasn't left behind a pile of bones, then let me know. Otherwise, go simmer in your selfrighteous bile.
