Thanks for your post. No really, if that bad news pans out, it will be most helpful for me to remember that I learned it from a still-faithful Tory ally.

Is it possible this is part of a disinformation campaign? Maybe, like the media in the 1991 Gulf War, some of the players don't even know they are part of the disinformation?
It seems to me that, on our side of the pond and yours, a suspiciously large amount of public discussion of war plans and timetables and so forth is occurring.

That link I gave IS Insight Magazine? I thought it was called Insight on the News or something? Well, shoot. They're a reliable source and that article has quite a lot of info I haven't read elsewhere. Not a good article to read just before bed.

And even "misunderstanding all you see"
Your minister just returned from Turkey having been rebuffed. Seeing British troops in number in Northern Iraq, let alone in Turkey would make many of us ill even after all these years.
You may have learned about Kut, then Mudros, then Sevres and finally Lausanne, where Britain played the leading role in wresting the oilfields from us. I feel it was quite brazen of the fellow to come asking..
I do not blame your leadership for feeling slightly worried about the possible complications which could arise from this arguably an extra-terror-war excursion. Killing one rat is perhaps easy if it's cornered, but what if all the rats come attacking. That could very well mark the unrecoverable bottom of a long and slow decline..
Nothing personal Ivan. Just an observation.

"I thought it was called Insight on the News or something? " That's a section of the magazine. I subscribe to this magazine but my delivery is always screwed up around the Christmas season and I don't have this one yet. Thanks.

Agree. This is likely purposeful disinformation.

hard to believe the Brits would start stalling after all that poison was discovered in their country over the weekend...sheesh. Morons. Jolly Bad.

UN Officials to Say Iraq Is Not Providing AnswersThis should change their minds. GW is moving ahead regardless, but it would sure be nice to have full support from you all as we do move forward. Fall is just way too late. The NK crisis will be tripled by then and we need to be on our way to ending the Iraq crisis not starting it.

This might be psy ops.
Sadam will never figure out when the war will start if he reads the newspapers.
Otoh, watch the buildup on the ground.

I can't begin to describe how unspeakably angry I am at Blair for this - Saddam should be dead already - I don't care if Blair has problems with left wingers in his party, it is the right thing to do - Ivan First time I read this on Drudge I decided that it was just for consumption in Iraq. It keeps Saddam courting inspectors rather than threatening to distribute anthrax or worse. The battle group will go when the pieces are in place.

Well if they do want us to wait, they can pay the bill. Probably several billion on month...

I'm hoping that this is disinformation to keep the enemy off balance.

All your Mosuls are ours. MadIvan is a pub bore, bragging and bellicose, wrapped in a tattered Union Jack. It's still before 1.00pm so he will still be sober.

Well that would put the kabosh on my "Atack Iraq" office pool- we only have January or February for options! Naturally I chose Feb 1st (being a new moon and all)!

This is reading a lot like Desert Storm on this side of the Atlantic, where the last groups on board were the State Department and the lieberals. The only difference is that the liberals are of the ruling party.

It just sounds like the British rag is trying to increase it's circulation. The train left the station weeks ago and it's not stopping until it runs over Saddam's corpse.
