I don't remember the rules, but Senators can put holds on them. I just don't remember if they must be from the same state..... Seems Byrd had a hold placed on one sometime back that never got to a hearing.... I know that they usually look for support from the home state Senators....

Remember how during the campaign in 2000, Michael Savage would play the W clip with him saying, Don't worry, I know what I am doing." Yeah!

Our president was in a unique postion to grow up studying Nixon, Ford, and especially Reagan and GHW Bush. He also has had occasion to meet his true Master and learn at His feet.

At a meeting for conservative activists in Illinois, with W's presidental campaign. At Q&A time, I had occasion to relate what I thought were as yet unmentioned concerns in the room, telling a field director of his primary campaign that we weren't going to apply ourselves to help him just so we could see more O'Connors, Kennedys and Souters on the bench, or to see our private and governmental sovereignties given up - especially to any international power.

The man's reply seemed to convey that W had discussed such things with his inner circle. As I recall, he said, "You won't be disappointed."

I think that man was on to something.

I look at this as welcome news of Bush and crew coming out swinging (at long last!), but I'm staying cautiously optimistic for the long term. Things can still turn south real quick for Bush and the Republicans. Two years is a very long time in political terms.

I definitely have some differences with Bush's positions, especially domestically, but I separate my disagreement for his stances on some issues from respect for the man himself. Some of the more strident naysayers should keep that in mind.

But hey, what the hell, I'll join in the gloating. Today is a good day. :)

I do think that Frist will bring a different approach for a while at least. But the Senate has it's own rules and they are deeply rooted....

Americans Hating the US (for sep. of church and state.) I've had about all I can stand of Ralph Nees' mug on tv, and NOW's whiney spinmeisters.

Obviously, before, media could talk with the "Leaders" of the Dems and the committee, and ignore the Republicans for the most part. I hope the newly made Repub. majority responds to EVERY
attempt at spin the Dems put out.
