President Bush headed to Ft. Hood, Texas today to rally and to thank the many troops who serve from their home base. Bush used the opportunity to tout the military spending bill, as well as to once again assure all that we will win the war on terror. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

Is this the speech that got so many "hoo-ah"s? If so, I might buy a copy.

A day late as usual, rintense, but you have outdone yourself - these pix are wonderful.

I did luck out and got to see the President's speech rerun on C-Span last night at 8:30. He was wonderful. He seems to be so energized when he's with the troops or when he's with children. It seems as if he can feel their love and their respect. Heck, even I can feel the love and respect they have for him just watching it.

Hey, I just wanted to say a belated THANKS to all my FRiends who offered me sincere and hearty congratulations on Ohio State's incredible victory last night!!

It's wonderful to have friends who are happy for me and shared in my excitement, even though you have no connection to the school or the team. That's what friends are for!

You guys are TOO cool!! And the ohioWfan family is still really happy! :o)

I feel as tho I am out of the loop and that this wonderful thread just brought me back into mix.

I am feeling so satisfied, so secure, so very full of the warm flow of positive emotions I so often discover here.

Rintense-I cannot thank you enough for this effort. You bring me close to our President and his activities and in doing so, inspire my hope for the future so important to all of us.

Mike-your remarks about the President's speech at Fort Hood elevated my respect for our President to a new high. Never thought that was possible. (It is almost the exact opposite of my lack of respect for bill klinton because just when I think my opinion of that slug can go no lower-he does something horrendous, says something heartbreaking or spirit crunching in is divisivness, and lower goes my loathing, easily.)

I loved your words because I understand them so deeply. Like a poet who touches you with words you have felt yet never expressed, so your words impacted me thusly. And I gather from reading the comments above-others had the same reaction. Ya have to work to not feel a kinship of the kindred spirits who frequent this thread. I pray, Mike, that I will be able to see a re-run of this speech and am wondering now if it will replace, in my heart, the speech he made at the National Cathedral service in DC post 9/11. Certainly, his words, and your impression, made this heart sing.

I trust our President. Like many of you, I wish I could tell him this...I wish I could hold his hand and somehow pass on to him, in one split second, what his leadership had meant to this family on a personal level.

And Mike-I will be on bended knee tonight, probably weeping, in gratitude and complete fullness of love to our Father we share, for the blessing our nation has received in having President Bush as our leader. Isn't God's timing perfect? He knew just who we needed at this moment in time.

Ohio-congrats on the Ohio State win. It was the game of games. Just got back from Ohio today (home to take down Christmas decorations in my parents home and celebrate at luncheon with friends at the Golden Lamb restaurant and hotel in Lebabnon, Ohio. Ever been there? It is fantastic.

Happy New Year to everyone. God Bless America, God keep our nation safe, God help us to liberate the Iraqi people (that will be a GREAT DAY!), God help those in Afganistan and protect them from harm, God Bless our military and their families, and God Bless the wonderful, richly patriotic and compassionate folks who haunt the FR boards!

Do you people realize the MESS this house was in last night because of that stupid game???? America's Funniest Home Videos was NOT on....and that's the ONLY show a certain young man waits for all week.

So while you were reveling (or crying).....we were REALLY hearing it from him.

I told him we'd start taping them from now on, and fill up a whole tape in case this ever happens again.

Guenevere, WELCOME! Rintense is absolutely WONDERFUL to do this for us everyday. She paid me to say that.

No babe, thank YOU! For the comments, humor and hysterical rhetoric you bring to this thread-your irreverance has had me laughing outloud more than once! You may not know it-but you keep many of us not only entertained, but grounded! Nothing like being reminded NOT to take oneself too seriously!

I visited Lebanon and the Golden Lamb just two weeks ago. Now that my family and I live in the Cincinnati area, I shop in both Lebanon and Waynesville as much as possible (particularly during the Christmas season!).

Relative to Fort Hood, the President delivered yet another eloquent and passionate speech; however, I wouldn't put it in the same category as his "Cathedral" speech -- a speech which will join the President's oration to Congress on 11/20/01 as one of the best speeches in American history!

All: I did record the "Fort Hood" speech; let me double check the tape's quality -- if the quality is good, I can certainly make some copies for those of you who would like one!

I will put my request in now for a tape of that speech. Thank you for the offer. Tho I missed this speech :^(, I am convinced it was truly an event marked by a bonding of a President to the men and women who stand between us and whatever evil is around the bend.

Kewl to discover that someone else knows what a treasure the Golden Lamb is. I had never seen the place decked out for Christmas (the decorations go down tomorrow) and was charmed by the attention to detail. As for the food- the salmon w/mixed veggies is to die for! hehe (or...oink! oink!) The wine was superb, the service extraordinary. It always seems like a genuine treat to dine there, imho! And I know Waynesville, well. Love that smallish place-more shops in Lebanon but I used to go swimming in Waynesville as a kid and hold fond memories of that countryside town. The whole area is beautiful. I grew up in Xenia, Ohio-about 20-25 mins directly east of Dayton, but was born in Cincy, and now live near Indianapolis.

Muggs, Freeper extraordinaire, and Timestax (we have traveled to DC to Freep together-are March for Justice cohorts!) also live just outside Cincy
