Only the Senate, per the Constitution, has the power to remove any Senator under its Rules. She is not going to be removed by the Senate, nor is she going to quit (like Senator Packwood). The best that can happen is to weaken her for reelection, and tar other Democrats by their association with her and their unwillingness to condemn her bone-headed remarks.
I think what really happened is that Murray confused Osama bin Laden with Hezbollah. The latter DOES have a long history of building and running schools and hospitals -- to go along with its long history of murdering Jews. In terms of cash, Hezbollah may spend more in "helping" and indoctrinating Palestinians than it does in murdering Jews (and others). However, bin Laden's track record is to spend his available cash directly in running his organization and in murdering people.
That would not justify Murray making her comment about Hezbollah, rather than bin Laden. It just means her comments would not be quite so factually stupid as they are.

As the politician formerly known as Al Gore has said, my book, "to Restore Trust in America"
I agree. Even if the pressure got to her enough to make her resign, Washington State Democratic Governor Gary Locke would appoint another Democrat who, without a doubt, would be smarter than Taliban Patty. (He**, a box of rocks is smarter than Patty.)
This woman is terminally stupid. Let her keep talking - and shine the light of truth on her. Let her spew whatever drivel comes out of her mouth, but hold her accountable. Reveal her stupidity until she becomes an object of ridicule to everyone, especially her constituents.
In the meantime, George Nethercutt or whomever wishes to run against her in 2002 has to be very circumspect in this matter and let the troops do the criticizing.
