Please pray for my good friends, John and Ellen who just lost their son in the avalanche is WA state. They are members of my church and I have worked closely with both of them. In fact, I was meeting on Sunday with Ellen to do some planning for Lent in our parish.
The group their son was with were experienced mountaineers and hikers, but he was buried upside down and they could they didn't get to him for 15 minutes. Coroner has confirmed that he died from suffocation.
Thanks, I will copy off your prayers and give to John and Ellen

It's just so amazing when something strikes this close to home. Ellen called me tonight to apologize for not making the meeting I had called on Sunday. Bless her heart!

Holy Father,
We come to You with heavy hearts because of the death of one of Your children and the parents who grieve for him. Who can measure the tremendous sorrow and pain that they have in their hearts? We can only imagine the unspeakable loss they feel. Father, because Your own Son died on the cross, You understand their grief completely. We ask that You would send forth the Holy Spirit to comfort John and Ellen and to give them the peace that passes all understanding. Help them to cast their tears at the foot of the cross and to know the depth of the love You have for them and their son. Strengthen them, that they may face the days ahead. We ask this in the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

2 Corinthians 1:3 ¶Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;
4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
5 For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ.

I saw this on the local news last night. It is such a tragedy.
I'll be praying for your friends. God be with them.

I am so sorry for your friends and can only imagine how stunned and sad they are. I will pray an extra decade of the Rosary tonight especially for John and Ellen. The decade I will pray for them will be from the Sorrowful mysteries,Carrying the Cross. Mary,who watched her son carry His cross will know how to pray that God help them through these awful times.
I will also pray that the angels take him to paradise and that perpetual light shine upon Donald.
