This has nothing to do with the holiday.
In December, many high school seniors go away for their first ski trip without adult supervision.
The holiday creates the vacation time which creates the opportunity - but I doubt many teenage girls consciously decide: "I'm giving my boyfriend fornication for Christmas!"
