The holiday season is viewed as the happiest time of the year. It conjures visions of families gathering by a warm fireplace, sharing their love, opening presents, and feasting on turkeys and pigs.
But for the millions of factory-farmed turkeys and pigs hauled to slaughter for thousands of miles in freezing weather, the holiday season signifies misery, despair and death. Their agonizing death journey follows a lifetime of caging, crowding, deprivation, drugging, mutilation and mandhandling.
