I'm with you, B Knotts. If Lotts' comments justify removing him as Majority Leader, then Murray's remarks invite a comparable penalty -- if not institutionally then politically. And the latter will only be effected by keeping her words before the public. It may not make a difference to Washington state voters. But other Americans will take note.

Poor dumb woman.
If she's smart enough to be in government and suck up our tax dollars for her "service," she's mature enough to take the fire for saying something so monumentally stupid.

Am I mistaken or did she make these remarks to a group of HS students in Canada? I thought the original article said she was at a HS in Toronto. It's bad enough to make those kinds of idiotic statements in your own home district, but if she did make them in another COUNTRY, then that could be considered treasonous.

No. She made them at Columbia River High School, in Vancouver, Wash., USA.

OK I stand corrected. But she should still be held accountable.

Even more so, because she was polluting the minds of our teenagers with her hatred of America.

Look, we all know liberals are hypocritical. We also know that Lott didn't fall into any "trap," he just has no concrete leadership skills, and Repubs need to see this as a great opportunity to oust an ineffective dullard.
This maybe a Godsend for the Republican senate because it hopefully gets that sympathetic attitude of Lott's out of the way.
I can't say that Frist will be any less capitulating to Dashle, but we already know what Lott would do!
You don't have to agree with the way that Lott HAD to leave, but at least he is GONE!

TC:
Why isn't she being questioned? Good question... And here's another: was this flap even mentioned on any of the other weekend talking head shows? I don't think so... Only FoxNews.
Too bad Senator Lugar is such a dud that he couldn't even muster the tiniest bit of outrage over these remarks after his own majority leader had just been slain by his own stupid remarks. When people need arguments to support Term Limits, Senators Lugar and a number of Dumbocrats (and unfortunately more than a few Republicans) should come up as examples.

I'm not upset that Lott is no longer the ML. I think he never should have been re-elected the last time because of his spineless capitulation to Daschel and the liberals. But the issue with Patty Murrey has nothing to do with Lott. Her idiocy is more in line with Jane Fonda and MacDermott and all those other America haters IMO.

She has been going around the state, trying to incite high schoolers to the anti-war movement, that is just the facts. On our dollar too. She came to our local high school, and in this navy town, she was not well received.
The kids talked to the reporter afterward, and complained of her harping on our responsibility for attacks, because of bad policies. Of course bad Republican policies

It takes too much power to move her lips, and keep her eyes open at the same time.

There are a lot of retired military, and current military in this state, it can resonate all the way to the polls in 04. Someday, a candidate will run for office and have no fear of speaking the truth in the campaign. It will probably have to be a Democrat though, Republicans have no cojones.

Murray is wrong headed, shallow, simplistic to the max. But she might have her eye on some hollywood money moving up her way at her next election cycle and furthermore, if Osama bin pig pen and other arab thugs think of her as a friend and not an enemy, she feels safer. Just like klinton blaming the US back at Georgetown Univ in a sick speech that to this day raises the hair on the back of my neck.
Democrats are so low, so into themselves and their power trips, that to some, I am sure, it is worth the right wing criticism to make nicey poo with Osama's henchmen. Afterall, ya never know where a suitcase nuke might land....and these dems desparately want Osama to know they believe in him!

I offered my opinion and now you have offered yours, we agree on some points and disagree over the political ramifications, we will just have to see how it plays out.
Have a Merry Christmas and in November 2004 we will know more.
