Sen. Murray Praises bin Laden's Good Deeds
Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., is under fire today for praising terrorist leader Osama bin Laden, leader of the 9/11 attacks that killed thousands of Americans.
"Weve got to ask, why is this man [bin Laden] so popular around the world?" Murray said to pupils Wednesday at a government high school in Vancouver, Wash. "Why are people so supportive of him in many countries ... that are riddled with poverty?
"Hes been out in these countries for decades, building schools, building roads, building infrastructure, building day care facilities, building health care facilities, and the people are extremely grateful. We haven't done that.
"How would they look at us today if we had been there helping them with some of that rather than just being the people who are going to bomb in Iraq and go to Afghanistan?" Murray said, according to The Columbian, the daily newspaper in Vancouver.
Blame America First for Not Being a 'Better Neighbor'
The Associated Press today quoted Murray as telling the students: "War is expensive, too. Your generation ought to be thinking about whether we should be better neighbors out in other countries so that they have a different vision of us."
Most mainstream media have largely downplayed or even ignored Murray's remarks.
Until the ever-dependable Sean Hannity brought up the issue tonight, even Fox News Channel barely mentioned Murray. Like the other media, it was too busy in the feeding frenzy over Trent Lott, toppled for his far less offensive comments.
'Outrageous and Despicable'
Chris Vance, chairman of the Washington State Republican Party, said Murrays comments were not only offensive but untrue.
"It is absolutely outrageous and despicable to imply that the American government should learn a lesson from the madman who murdered thousands of American citizens," said Vance. "I know Senator Murray has a habit of sticking her foot in her mouth, but this goes way beyond a simple gaffe.
"Patty Murray sent the message to these students that the United States somehow deserved or brought on the September 11 terrorist attacks. I think all decent people can agree that we most certainly did not, that this was an unprovoked attack of terrorism.
"And where on earth does Senator Murray get the idea that Osama bin Laden built roads, schools and day cares? He ran terrorist camps in Afghanistan that trained the killers who carried out the 9/11 monstrosities. It is the American government and the American people who lead the world in helping people of impoverished countries, not murderers like bin Laden.
"If Patty Murray really believes what she said, she should think twice about running for re-election. Its one thing for her to be wary of engaging in war, but to say these kinds of outrageous and untrue things is just beyond the pale."
Osama's Gift of Hatred
Michael Swetnam, chairman of something called Potomac Institute for Policy Studies in Arlington, Va., told the Associated Press:
"Mostly he did underwrite - and so did many Arab charities - several fundamentalist Muslim schools throughout Afghanistan and Pakistan that teach a very, very fundamentalist, right-wing version of Islam that preaches hatred for the West," Swetnam said.
Hatred for the West? That sounds like the P.C. left wing, not right wing.
Bin Ladens version of Islam tells Muslims that "people in the West are trying to attack your religion, oppress you, and the only way to fight that is to rise up against the United States and its crusader buddies, Israel and Europe," Swetnam said.

The left, represented by this pathetic Murry, is out to blast America at every turn.
At my son's school, a Muslim man (a member of CARE or some pro-muslim organization) told the students last February that America must reexamine its policies. He passed around pictures of people dying in Iraq and said this is a result of America's policy of sanctions against the people of Iraq.
I went to the PTO meeting and complained, and nobody cared. I was looked on as intolerent!
What Murry said was far worse than Lott. She should not be in the Senate!

"Hes been out in these countries for decades, building schools, building roads, building infrastructure, building day care facilities, building health care facilities, and the people are extremely grateful. Excuse me, but, proof please.
Especially on the day care centers. You only need a day care center if mom and dad both work. Not a real common thing in the Middle East and certainly not something Bin Laden would support.
To: Harmless Teddy Bear
I would also dispute the facts she mentions.............I haven't heard the people of Afghanistan marching and protesting to "Bring back the Taliban"!!!

As a result of 3000+ deaths on 9-11-01 war was declared on terror by the President of the United States of America. It was determined that Osama bin Laden orchestrated the 9-11 attack and was declared to be 'target #1 / dead or alive' by the president. Senator Murray's recent praise and support for bin Laden before a high school class is traitorous since it provides 'comfort to the enemy'. She is not fit to serve in the US senate and should immediately resign her seat. And to set an example for other socialists who choose to fight their country while at war, she should be charged with the war crime of 'treason.'

The USA does build schools, hospitals, roads or at least we give away billion$ every year to other countries so they can do that. We are the MOST generous country on earth. What more does she want US to do, give away everything????

Article III, Sect. 3 of the Constitution states: "Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort. No person shall be convicted of treason unless on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act, or on confession in open court." Sadly, the DOJ has yet to take action against Hanoi Jane or those three Congressmen who went to Baghdad in October, so I don't think anything will happen in that regard. Also, knowing the (liberal) news media, nothing will happen there either. Makes you sick, doesn't it?
To: DocFarmer
Doc, the only reason that nothing happens is because the republicans cause nothing to happen. If republican senators would stand up and declare her remarks 'treasonous', the media would scramble to be first to air the call for her resignation. The problem is ----- most of our elected republicans don't have a backbone.
To: DocFarmer
I went to her website and listened to her Iraq speech - all 18 minutes of it, and started to email her to let her know what a twit I think she is but then the thought occurred to me - " If she doesn't listen to her own words why would she understand mine ?". The first half of her speech she lauds the President and the second half she crawfishes to fit back in with her democrat/lib buddies. And I thought there couldn't be 2 Gores !

Remember when Time magazine ran a warm fuzzy cover picture of Castro and near the same time ran a picture on the cover of RUSH but Rush was encircled with smoke and looked sinister and the caption read IS RUSH BAD FOR AMERICA or something like that. Made it look like the evil dictator was a fuzzball and like Rush was evil dictator....
Only fools believe the liberl biased media.
Too bad there are so many fools in the world and they vote "D".

Eeriegeno,
I hate to disagree with you, but if Republican Senators stood up and declared this witch with a "b" as a traitor, the media would scramble, alright. But they'd scramble to demonise the Republican Senator, and defend Murray. I'll agree that most of our elected representatives could use some serious testosterone therapy, as well as aggressive calcium injections in order to grow them a spine...
To: txflake
tx, at the very least President Bush ought to go national and reprimand Murray for her words as he did with Lott.
To: DocFarmer
She should be removed as a Sen. and put in a camp because she is a threat to America.

Looks like Patti was getting in touch with her inner bimbo. Day care? It is a hoot,,just why would women enshrouded in burkas with windows blacked out unable to do anything need day care. The dems preoccupation with day care is unbelievable. This woman is truly stupid, and traitorous, and a stupid traitor is a reallly scary thing.

TxFlake,
Imagine, if you will, a single female presence at a camp filled with hundreds of lonely and desperate detainees.
On second thought, maybe that's what she deserves...
You ought to send that idea to Dubya! Many thanks.
To: DocFarmer
She should resign.

This is obviously an endorsment of the oppression of women.

How sad this isnt in the news. Liberals will say the party line of "This isnt about Sen Murray, this is about what is right about America..." (even when the liberal guest was invited entirely about said idiot) or some crap to always change the topic when its about one of their own saying crap (which is more often thana reported).
