Yes. W. will always cave in the face of determined political opposition.

Lott stays!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yessssssssssssssssssss.

If Lott is run out over this, the Republicans will have effectively gelded themselves (on National TV). (I'm sorry I was born with b@lls, but now I have removed them to show that I am not a bad guy.)

Hey! Maybe Lott can "share" power with Don Nickles or Bill Frist or Rick Santorum.

I'm tired of reading about this mess. I'm disgusted by the Demopuke tactics of blowing Lott's comments out of proportion and trying to illegally take back the Senate. And I'm ticked at Lott for being such a moron, to make a statement that could be miscontrued and for which he has to keep apologizing.

The Dems were following Lott's speeches and waiting for him to repeat his comment that "Strom should have gotten the Presidency in '48". When he did, they were ready. Campaign went into full gear. These people ain't stupid, they're lethal and they're fighting to win.

"I am the son of a shipyard worker from Pascagoula, Mississippi. I have had to fight all of my life and I am not stopping now," Lott declared.

Last night on BET he was the son of a sharecropper, now it is the son of a shipyard worker. Tomorrow it will be son of a *itch.

This whole fiasco reminds me of a Far Side cartoon.

Two goldfish are standing outside their fishbowl while the castle inside the bowl is burning.

One goldfish says to the other, "Whew! That was close. Course, now we're equally screwed."

That is the situation the Republican Party finds itself in. It doesn't really matter if Lott stays or goes, the Republican Party is equally screwed.

It's a shame--no, it's a crime--he doesn't have this kind of spine when dealing with the Tom Daschles of the world.

You are a misinformed Boob! Lott praised a man the jump into Normandy by parachute on June 6, 1944, a act along with many who died that changed the course of history. You live free today because of people like Strom Thurmond. Kiss my a__ to Democrat plant!

"Sen. Rick Santorum, who on Monday scheduled a Jan. 6 meeting of the 51 Senate Republicans to decide Lott's fate, predicted on Tuesday the 61-year-old Mississippian would prevail.

"I expect Trent Lott to be majority leader on January 7" when the 108th Congress convenes, Santorum, chairman of the Senate Republican Conference, said in a telephone call with reporters from his home state of Pennsylvania, an aide said.

A senior Senate Republican aide replied, "Santorum is one of Lott's biggest backers so I would expect him to say that. But I still don't see him making it with the White House having apparently pulled the plug on him."

The aide said a number of senior Republican senators had a series of telephone calls on Tuesday to see if they could craft a strategy to get Lott to voluntarily step aside

This says Santorum scheduled the 6 Jan. meeting. Last night Lott said he scheduled it. Someone is fibbing or the Compost is missourced.

Santorum should be Majority Leader

Lott Vows to Fight to Hold Onto Power in Senate, as he panders to the liberal establishment.

This gets uglier all the time.
