Partial Birth Abortion Ban Passage, S. 1692 (Roll Call Vote No. 340). Passage of the bill that would ban a certain late-term abortion procedure, in which the physician partially delivers the fetus before completing the abortion. Anyone convicted of performing such an abortion would be subject to a fine and up to two years in prison. The penalties would not apply if the abortion is necessary to save the mothers life.
