Sheets *was* Majority Leader in the Senate and is constantly gushingly referred to as "The Conscience of the Senate." And because he senilely waves his little copy of the Constitution in the air (I have the same one and sometimes wave it back when I see him do it on C-SPAM), they bow down and call him a constitutional guru.

Sheets was also President Pro Tempore of the Senate for the past year and a half.

Yes, and there's a good reason he no longer holds that office.

and is constantly gushingly referred to as "The Conscience of the Senate."

Liberal bias is a given. No point in dwelling on it.

Sheets was also President Pro Tempore of the Senate for the past year and a half.

As I understand it, this title traditionally goes to the longest serving member of the majority party, and is politically insignificant unless the Pres, VP, and Speaker of the House die simultaneously.

Doesn't that make him fourth in line to the Presidency if the worst should occur?
