Sheets was also President Pro Tempore of the Senate for the past year and a half.

As I understand it, this title traditionally goes to the longest serving member of the majority party, and is politically insignificant unless the Pres, VP, and Speaker of the House die simultaneously.

They know what he is -- a former KKK recruiter and someone who used the n-word on national TV (twice!) last year -- yet still revere him as some sort of role model.
