LOS ANGELES(AP) - Don Johnson is clearing out his garage.

Johnson is selling six vehicles from his stable of cars, including a silver Ferrari Testerossa given to him by Enzo Ferrari in the 1980s when the actor was playing Sonny Crockett on the "Miami Vice" television series. Johnson drove a Ferrari on the show.

"Streamline his lifestyle" must be a euphemism for "he needs the $."

"Streamline his lifestyle" must be a euphemism for "he needs the $."

Most likely, but some people suddenly realize they have way too much stuff and have no practical need or desire for them anymore. A lot of stars will load up on vehicles and drive a different one each day because its "the thing to do" and later conclude that the cost of maintaining the vehicles just doesnt match the diminished excitement of the vehicles anymore.

I don't know, most everything he does is popular and he's pretty good at getting out before it completely tanks. Anybody with 6 cars to sell (presumably he's got another 1 or 2 he's keeping) probably has a lot of life baggage and could do with some streamlining, think about the upkeep time and costs of that many cars (somebody has to drive the periodically or the rubber goes to crap and the engine rusts in place). Just think about having to rent a car hauler to easily get those cars from point-A to point-B if you move.

I'd kill for that Baracuda though.

That 'Cuda is pretty sweet.

I always thought the original Miami Vice car was a replica Ferrari, not the real thing. The Ferrari people liked it and always said that it looked "more like a Ferrari than a Ferrari".

I thought the black car was a replica and the white car was real? Or maybe I have those backwards. Miami Vice was some fun TV. So was Nash until the layered love interest stories got over complicated... though that did lead to getting Yasmine Bleeth in nothing but lacey under things so I can't complain too loudly.

The black Ferrari was replica 365 Daytona Spyder. It had a Vette chassis and a 350 small block. The white 512 Testarossa was the real McCoy.

"Over the years, I've enjoyed owning and driving these automobiles," Johnson said. "However, a combination of increasing demands on my time and a personal desire to streamline my life make it time to let others enjoy these beauties."

Translation: "I'm not working much anymore, and I can't afford to keep these cars. I need the money."

Many years ago when I was in the army, at the electronics school in Huntsville, Alabama, I had a friend in my unit who had a red 512 Testarosa. It was temperamental, but a real beauty. It was a pleasure just to sit in it and fondle the leather and the hand-tooled doorknobs, and as I recall a walnut instrument panel.

A little out of my price range, however.
