Celebrities to Send Bush Anti-War Letter

LOS ANGELES (AP)--Mike Farrell and Anjelica Huston will release a letter Tuesday signed by a hundred celebrities who want President Bush to stop his war rhetoric toward Iraq.

The letter reportedly is signed by stars including Kim Basinger, Matt Damon, Laurence Fishburne, Ethan Hawke, Uma Thurman, Samuel L. Jackson, Jessica Lange and Martin Sheen, publicists for the event said Monday.

Details of the letter weren't released.

Bush has threatened military force against Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein, saying the dictator has amassed weapons of mass destruction that pose a danger to the United States.

United Nations weapons inspectors are searching the Middle Eastern country for such devices but have turned up little so far.

Farrell, who plays a veterinarian on the NBC drama ``Providence,'' previously compiled a celebrity-endorsed letter in June asking U.S. senators to vote against a plan to bury the nation's nuclear power waste at Nevada's Yucca Mountain.

Co-signers of that letter included Alec Baldwin and Tim Robbins, Rob Reiner, Barbra Streisand and Harry Belafonte.

On July 9, senators voted 60-39 in favor of the Yucca Mountain project.

Oh please let them all promise to leave again! (They certainly weren't very successful with Yucca Mountain.)

Oh, God, you have got to be kidding me! These people live their entire lives in a comfortable little fairyland. How the hell do they know what is best for this country?

We should start a letter to encourage Bush to continue with the war plans. We could pass it from area to area and get a thousand signatures.

Yup, that should make all the difference.I'm curious, but have any in this list had a nervous breakdown recently? There has to be at least one.Basinger is always too close to the edge, even in the best of circumstances.Farrell still loves Ortega, no doubt too .

I wonder how many of these 100 actually voted for President Bush. Even 1 would surprise me.

Laurence Fishburne, Ethan Hawke

Uh-oh, celebrities I've never heard of. I have a hunch that there are at least 80 more on the list I've never heard of.

"How the hell do they know what is best for this country?"

It amazes me that so many 'international experts' chose to go into acting.

Perhaps they are trying to assure that Al Qaeda doesn't attack Hollyweird. "Please Saddam and Al Qaeda, we come in peace, so please don't hurt us, we're on your side...see?"

Maybe 100 noncelebrities should sign a letter to the celebrities, demanding that they stop their anti-war talk (aka appeasement). It would, of course, be a pointless gesture. But that would be the point exactly: Ironically, the letter's pointlessness would be apparent even to the celebrity idiots who think their own letter has moral, legal or practical significance (i.e., a point).

I can't decide which movies NOT too see these days.

The list of Hollywood whackos is just too large.

Somebody help me out with a list of Hollywood types that aren't whackos or a list of movies starring only sane people.

Never knew his name, but I agree-he is pretty cool. All the more reason I'm disappointed.

Thanks for the post. I just a few more names to the list of shows and movies I won't watch with these morons "starring" in them.

I attended a Christmas party last Saturday and as MC, I forced the sound guy to turnoff Barbara Streisand.
