ISTROUMA INDIANS !!!
ISTROUMA translates into "Red Stick" ie Baton Rouge. The two Istrouma tribes had an annual cerimony in which they impaled a bear or dear on a tall pole, coloring the pole red with blood. This red pole (stick) was located on the banks of the Mississippi River and marked the boundry between the two tribes. These tribes were known as the Istrouma tribes and were part of the Chippawa tribes.
Note, when the french came up the Mississippi they saw the boundry marker and exclaimed "Baton Rouge".
We also have Choctaw, Caushata and many other tribes. However, we only have two reservations that I know of, both of which are complete populated by very large casinos hotels and parking.

Is your polling place traditionally where the whites in the county go, or is there usually a good number of blacks that show up to vote? If the latter, your report may be an early sign to a POSSIBLE upset win for Terrell.....POSSIBLE. It still would be stunning.

So it's...
The Louisiana "Blackjacker," in the SE Corner
vs.
Rotweiller Ralf Reed, in the NW Corner!

they will check off voters as they come into the precinct.....That's what the GOP did in Hawaii this time - it worked, too.

Unfortunately, in most elections, East Feliciana Parish always goes democratic (Gore won here in 2000, ugh!) So, if Suzy can carry this parish by 55-60%, I think she will win big statewide.

Hon, Louisiana has Indian reservations and Indian gaming,,we are chock full of Indians here
Many people are surprised to discover that Louisiana has a significant native American population -- the largest within the eastern United States. Although they do not fit the stereotyped image of what most people think of as Indians, the Louisiana tribes and bands have played a significant role in shaping of the distinctive culture of the state, both north and south

My polling district is approx. 58% white and 42% black. I live in Jackson, LA - 30 miles north of Baton Rouge.
To: HoustonCurmudgeon
I've been supplied with a list of likely voters / hunters in that area and I've been calling them from Houston since last night. Thank goodness for free long distance/weekend minutes on my cell phone!! ;-) You, sir, are a true patriot. Please keep up the good work!

Johnny,
Don't show your ignorance to a nationwide audience man. Have you ever heard of Grand Casino Coushatta? It is owned and operated by the Coushatta Indian (not Injun) tribe in Louisiana.

Another good sign:
I was in Baton Rouge early this morning and rode by Cleo Fields law office and he didn't have one "landrieu" sign up!
I'm assuming he is still holding a grudge against Mary even though he reluctantly endorsed her. This may indicate that blacks may not be behind her 100%. The grounds around Cleo's office are usually filled with signs during an election - as during the Pres. 200o election.
To: Friend of Life
There's been very little excitement in this area for Landrieu, just the usual assortment of union officials (union thugs), trial lawyers (ambulance chasers), elected officials wanting federal handouts (mob)

"knock and drag" fraud gave the seat to Mary
Let's not diminish the meaning of the word "fraud". The DemoRats do engage in fraud, including having dead people vote. But "knock and drag" is a legitimate get-out-the-vote strategy, and is something the GOP must do also.

we will know exit polls if CNN doesn't cover alot about race and faces look grim. If FOX covers alot and Tony Snow has smile were in good shape
To: GoMonster
just heard from garret on fox that Laundrieu said her own trakcing polls showed terrell ahead. Laundrieu said if she wins it would be an upset
To: winin2000
As much as I want the rep to win, I believe it is a lost cause, mainly because the polls do not show a significant enough rep lead to overcome the 5% margin of victory the dims have built into the system with their vote fraud. Please no flames, sorry.

the 5% margin of victory the dims have built into the system with their vote fraud.
No flames just curious. What kind of fraud, how is it built in, any specifics?

What tribe? Ain't no Injuns in Louisianna Of course there are. You see them all the time marching in the Mardi Gras in full regalia.
They seem to be fairly dark complected.
