We had heard that Michelle Malkin was going to appear at a book signing in Manhattan sponsored by the Freedom Alliance and that she was going to give a presentation with regards to immigration and the problem of the INS in controlling immigration, a subject well covered in her book. I arrived rather late as I miscalculated wich subway to take into the city and got off on the wrong side of Manhattan. RMLEW was going to take lunch off and I was going to meet him there. RMLEW had pinged me a couple of days earlier that Michelle was going to be in New York. It was a last minute decision to go to the booksigning as my schedule cleared up for the day and I had a window where I could attend. Since I had been promoting her book here on FreeRepublic, the least I could do was go and meet her.
Michelle could not have been a more gracious person. As she was signing my copy of "INVASION", she recounted that her husband has been a FREEPER since 1998. We excchanged pleasantries and asked her if she was familiar with SABERTOOTH and she replied that she had met SABERTOOTH when she was in California. It was obvious that Michelle is a lurker here on FreeRepublic and was familiar with a number of Freepers. We had a rather long conversation considering the circumstances, it seems we had a few acquaintances in common, such as James Golden (AKA Bo Snerdly). I took the opportunity to invite her to a dinner hosted by the TriState chapter of FreeRepublic next time she comes to New York. After exchanging pleasantries, I asked her if it was ok to take a couple of pictures and I told her that I would post then on FreeRepublic with a report of our encounter. She was a real mensch about it and we took a couple of shots which we are posting below. All in all it was a great experience and I can say that shee looks a lot better in person, her pictures don't do her justice and neither does TV. I forgot to ask her what screen-name her husband uses. It's just as well it remains a mystery.

Well, fellow Freepers here is my report of today's encounter with a famous Freeper supporter, enjoy. We ought to return the favor of her support by buying a copy of her book.

Michelle and husband Jesse use the FReeper handle "Little Lulu". They were both members in good standing in the Puget Sound FReeper Chapter before they moved to Maryland.

This freeper met her in Westwood, LA. She graciously signed my book before her talk, as she had been delayed due to traffic and I was going to have to leave shortly to get back to campus to teach. What I did hear of her talk was depressing -- no one will listen! She asked what I'd like in my book and I said, "Something hopeful," and she wrote, "God bless America!" Why won't Washington listen?!!!!
Also heard that reporter Jayna Davis on Al Rantel today, talking about the Iraq connection to Oklahoma City. Why won't Washington listen?!!!!!
