Republicans overwhelming choice over Democrats on family values, integrity; Dems lead on tolerance, Zogby Post-Election Survey Reveals

A new poll conducted in 18 states and the District of Columbia reveals that in 17 of the states, Republicans are deemed by voters as better suited than Democrats on family values and integrity.

The Zogby Post-Election Poll, conducted by telephone November 7 –10, continues to look at how specific demographic groups voted in the Midterm elections, and why.19 State Post Election Report

The poll sampled 600 actual voters in 18 states and the District of Columbia. States polled were Florida, Louisiana, Massachusetts, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Georgia, Colorado, Michigan, North Carolina, Missouri, and Minnesota, Iowa, New Hampshire, Arkansas, California, and South Dakota.

Of those states, Democrats were judged clearly best suited to promote family values only in the heavily Democratic District of Columbia (Democrats 57%, Republicans 13%). Voters in Massachusetts were split (Democrats 36%, Republicans 35%). In every other state, Republicans were the clear choice to handle family values including California (Republicans 42%, Democrats 31%), Minnesota (Republicans 41%, Democrats 32%), and Texas (Republicans 56%, Democrats 25%).

Integrity

Republicans also are the overwhelming choice over Democrats in 17 states as the party that best represents integrity. Voters in D.C. (Democrats 52%, Republicans 14%) were the only ones polled who deem Democrats the best for handling integrity. Voters in Massachusetts (Democrats 34%, Republicans 32%) were split. Republicans were deemed best to handle integrity by voters in states including Florida (Republicans 43%, Democrats 29%), New York (Republicans 36%, Democrats 29%) and Colorado (Republicans 46%, Democrats 23%).

Tolerance

Democrats were the clear choice in 16 states and the District of Columbia as best suited to handle tolerance. In no state did voters choose Republicans as best representing tolerance. Voters in Louisiana (Democrats 41%, Republicans 42%) and Texas (Democrats 42%, Republicans 40%) were split.

Pollster John Zogby: “In the midst of a war on terrorism, tolerance could become a national issue and help the Democrats. However, as the party re-evaluates itself after its defeat in November, it needs to be looking at why it scores so low on family values and integrity, along with national security and the economy. So far, only the DLC appears to be concerned about the family values deficit. Losing the middle class, especially parents, could be devastating to the Democrats.” 19 State Post Election Report

"For each of the following issues, please tell which party you feel is better equipped to handle the issue - Democrats or Republicans?"

Did Zogby think he was polling for a beauty pageant or maybe a high school yearbook?
The winner for Miss Tolerance goes to The Democrats!

Next he'll be polling to see which party has the sharpest dressers or the best hairstyles.

I think you are right, tolerand of SLEAZE. Repubican party has just as many mixed marriages, and we have gays, we have all religions, all skin colors. We just don't tend to tolerate sleaze. My family are all democrats in Okla. and Calif. and they are the LEAST tolerant people on earth. They use the N word way to freely (since we have black ancestry, why on earth would they do that). When my gay nephew died of AIDS they were so ashamed that they buried him in silence, no funeral, didn't even tell anyone. I found out years later. They are only tolerant of their own kind and their own opinions, just like all the other liberals/democrats.

John Kerry pays $75 per haircut and Hillary pays $150. Heard that on radio yesterday. They might win most expensive haircut. (I cut my own, buy my jeans at WalMart, I bet those two limosine liberals DO NOT do that! LOL)

BTW my "tolerant" democrat party considered me the BLACK sheep of the family and insisted that I go to another county to register to vote, since I was going to be a Republican, and that embarrassed the family. They still call me a fascist for voting Republican, especially when we hold all three houses of government. They didn't think themselves to be facist anytime the Democrats held all three houses.

Pollster John Zogby: “In the midst of a war on terrorism, tolerance could become a national issue and help the Democrats."

He's becoming more of a pundit than a pollster. They kept hammering us with Zogby polls last election. If I recall correctly, didn't his poll numbers tighten as election day neared? That would be a cute game to play. Spin polls until the last minute, then edge back to the real numbers. IMHO, the poll that predicted a GOP win early on was probably more accurate.

They still call me a fascist for voting Republican...

When you become a veterarian tree hugging nut like Hitler, when you start calling for Youth-in-Asia, sterilization of the 'genetically deficient', worshipping darwinist extremism above religion, seeking to put undesirables in concentration camps, seeking to confiscate all guns [especially from undesirables], promoting big-government socialism, seeking to burn undesirable books and silence undesirable political voices, seeking to seize property and businesses from scapegoats, such as the way the nazies raided the tobacco industry, then they might have a reason to call you a nazi.

Dems lead on tolerance

Tolerance in the school systems means corrupting innocent children by exposing them to perversion to reprehensible that parents are compelled to take them out of public schools.

Tolerance for liberals means persecuting Christian, embracing homosexuality and supporting Islamic Terrorism.

The Democrats can have this issue.

For an entire bloody month, we've been hammered with stories about "why the Deocrats lost" and "how can the Democrats regain power". Enough already!

The Democrats lost for three reasons:

1) The public has rallied around Bush in a time of a great national threat. Democrats were seen as opposing and interfering his efforts.

2) Jim McDermott and David Bonior in Baghdad saying Bush couldn't be trusted. They may as well have danced a jig at Ground Zero. It was the most moronic politcal stunt I've seen since Walter Mondale promised to raise taxes in 1984. Even worse, they were *serious* about saying it. That no Democrats bothered to distance themselves from their fellow congressmen lent tacit approval which tarred the party as a whole.

3) The Wellstone funerally. It was a national disgrace and made obvious to everyone that Democrats cared more about winning elections than showing respect even for their fallen comrade. It was another case where Democrats defended themselves rather than apologizing, further digging a deeper hole to anyone who wasn't already in kneepads.

Bush really didn't have to work that hard to put the GOP over the top. The Democrats were doing it for him.

I don't think there is a groundswell of change towards Republicans or conservatism. I think there is some hangover effect from 9-11, a sense that Republicans like Bush and Giuliani got down to business in responding to terrorism while Democrats just sat on the sidelines and sought therapy. America saw a distinct difference in the behavior of the two parties.

But then you pile on the Reno-McBride primary blunder, the Torricelli fiasco, the McDermott declaration and the Wellstone spectacle and America got to see the Democrat Party for what it really is - power-mad and morally bankrupt. It wasn't that the Democrats didn't get out their message. America heard their message loud and clear - it just wasn't the message Democrats thought they were sending.

So can we just shut up about why the Democrats lost? It's so incredibly obvious and yet nobody in the mainstream media or the Democrats themselves will even touch the truth on this. They lost because the public watched "DNC Unplugged" and decided not to renew it for another season.

Tolerance of what? Sleaze?

Yes. Also tolerance of perversity, racism (affirmative action), laziness, welfare fraud, immigration fraud, and a host of other vices and evils.

On the other hand, they are intolerant on things such as raising standards in schools, gun ownership, lowering taxes, free speech, etc.

Isn't that a contradiction? What kind of tolerance are they talking about? Sheesh.
