Two weeks ago, when we had over a hundred people (thanks to the Riverdale Assembly of God) at our weekly Fresno Support our Troops Rally, one of our members called in to the Bill Manders Show. Bill was very impressed with our efforts and with the enthusiastic (very loud) support of the Fresno motorists passing by. Bill and his producer, our very own Maccabee-AJB, called me yesterday to ask me to appear on their show. I warned them that I was the world's worst radio personality, but they asked me on anyway. Now, I didn't have much to say, but Bill did, and his other guest, Bruce Thornton, a Professor from Fresno State (a conservative professor, believe it or not) certainly did.
The subject of the show wrapped around a poll by the Pew Research Center that appeared in the papers this morning regarding how the rest of the world looks unfavorably upon America for defending ourselves from terrorism and especially in regards to the coming war with Iraq. First thing Bruce says is, "Who cares?" We are the guys with the money and the power and the guns and we intend to get justice and to rid the world of these terrorists while were at it. And who cares what the rest of the world thinks. We are not going to allow any other country or any group of international terrorists to walk all over us. If the rest of the world wants to subject themselves to terrorists, that's their business. But it aint gonna happen here. We are going to defend our rights and our constitution and our way of life.
Bruce and Bill both are of the opinion that America is not doing enough and not doing it fast enough. We are being held back by our own congress and by trying to appease the U.N. and the rest of the world. Aint gonna happen. It's time to get on with it. As President Bush says, "You're either with the terrorists or with us!"
Anyway, it was great to be on the show and to have Bill Manders support our Fresno/Central Valley Chapter efforts. He plugged our website and our weekly rallies several times. Hope we get some addional Central Valley FReepers signed up and also some additional patriots to the Corner of Blackstone and Shaw on Friday nights.
The website for KMJ 580 and the Bill Manders show is: www.kmj580.com. In addition to being a conservative talk show host, Bill Manders is an award winning author. His personal website where he is promoting his book, A Clash of Values, is located at www.billmanders.com.
Quote from Bill Mander's page regarding his book:
A Clash of Values provides a provocative look at how the media is impacting the American Family today. This well-documented book offers the family a look at not only the influence the media has had, but also shows us how our values have been rapidly snow-balling down a slippery slope, picking up moral decay as we head for rock bottom.
Sounds like it's right up our alley.
Professor Thornton writes a column for Frontpagemag.com: http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/Authors.asp. Bruce said some of his columns have ended up on FR and have had many opinions expressed, some in agreement and some not. I told him that we have thousands of posters on FR and they have many points of view. He says we're welcome to use any of his columns.
Thank you Bill Manders and Bruce Thornton. I really enjoyed being with you today on the show.
Support our Troops Rally in Fresno tomorrow night! Meet us at the southwest corner Blackstone and Shaw, 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Be there if you can!
Now, when are you going on "Larry King Live" again?
I was wondering when KMJ would get around to featuring a local/national hero.
Ya done good, boss!
I especially liked your remark when asked about the Pew poll suggesting nobody likes us - everybody hates us.
For those who were unable to hear the broadcast, Jim's reply - "Who Cares !?!"
AMEN!
Congratulations on the show!
