The actors are making it difficult for me to enjoy these movies that I look forward to.

Yet another reason that actors should never speak unless they have a script. The get so much money and adulations that they begin to think that they are actually capable of thinking. Kind of like a certain Kennedy who was so used to being told he was great that he thought he could fly a plane in trickly conditions. Mortenson is a good actor, he should stick to acting and leave the thinking to those who are equipped for it.

The man is allowed to have opinions, and he is allowed to express those opinions. While I do not agree with the sentiments and "thought processes" behind this one -and, indeed, consider them infantile or duplicitous- I will not say that he insults either my country or Dr. Tolkein. Also, since he is a fine swordsman, I am willing to cut him some small amount of slack. Personal bias on my part.
However, we are also permitted opinions, and permitted expression. I am very tired of seeing this "No more BLOOD for OIL!" bushwah, so I propose the following:
NO MORE BLOOD FOR ISLAM!!!
E-mail it to him, to P.Jackson, to mediot websites, post it everywhere the ant-war infants gather. I will this eveneing try to craft a t-shirt layout and a bumpersticker format of this new mantra and put it up on my web page. Any who so desire will then be able to download them and use them for whatever purpose they desire. Personally, I think it'd be appropriate if several tens of thousands of individual FReepers had T-shirts made with this mantra and sent them to Mr. Mortenson's home address. Can you imagine his reaction?

Aragorn is a liberal. Gandalf is gay. Elrond is constipated.
It's still a darn fine story and a darn fine movie.
Sorry. I won't boycott something I love just because someone's an idiot.

Well...now I'll only see Two Towers once, instead of three times, at the theater.
This kind of ridiculousness is just bad business on the part of hollywood. I mean, people seek film and entertainment as an escape...not to beat over the head by some narcissitic idiot's misery...how annoying. Bastard.
Thanks for the information.
Best Regards,

If it were truly about oil we'd have new wells in ANWR, off the coasts of Floriduh, Kalifornia, and half a dozen other places on US soil. LOTS cheaper by ANY measure than war...

:Sigh:

We manage to stay out of the dozens of 'aggressions' that occur in Africa, etc. How do you explain the Battle of the Black Sea?

There's oil in Mordor.
To: Valin
Yeah, don't worry. After LoTR, he'll be starring in "The Bjorn Borg Story" a three part miniseries on ESPN2.

Perhaps being exposed to the Ring of Power's vicinity in the last episode has turned him towards the dark side of the DEMONCRATS & BLEEDING HEART LIBERALS.

Amazing how bigots are crawling all over the place defining our jobs. Amazing how actors doing complex characters can go so low into narcissistic nonsense.
To: WaterDragon
BTW, I have watched the movie FOTR almost every evening since I bought it about 6 weeks ago, and I was suffering a kind of heartthrob crush on the character of Aragorn, and Boromir too. This info just sunk that in the mud.
But, no more than we should listen to actors like Barbra Streisand and her political views, because of a part she plays or a song she sings well, we should not deny ourselves of the enjoyment of great cinematic literature and classic movies because of one actor's stupid-dity.

"No more blood for oil.
I swear if I hear one more idiot spout this nonsense I am going to go into fullblown rant mode!
"GOD! why did you put so many idiots in the world at the same time!!"

Yeah, okay, some actor from LOTR has an opinion on the war. Big Deal, there's a conspiracy to keep from know the real Hollywood feelings!
Has anyone heard from Brittany Spears yet?
At least the pictures are better!

I stand corrected.
