From the Be Careful What You Wish For Dept.: Augusta National members tell SI that among the new additions to the club are Microsoft chairman Bill Gates, who had been campaigning for membership for years. No doubt Gates's progressive, latte-sipping Seattle social circle will be thrilled that he has joined the world's most notorious boys-only club. South Carolina football coach Lou Holtz was also extended membership privileges. "Go 'Cocks!" as they say around the National.

As I've said before, Hootie ought to make Martha Burk a member and then never let her set foot on the grounds.

I don't golf, and I've no love for Bill Gates, but I promise I will not swear in his name the next time one of my Windows boxes crashes. :)

Don't think you'll ever hear ol' Martha saying, "Go Cocks!"

"Hootie ought to make Martha Burk a member and then never let her set foot on the grounds. "

Personally, I think they should extend a membership to Barbara Bush. If not her, then Condoleeza Rice. Either of those would leave Martha Burk high and dry and me laughing.

Bill Gates, who had been campaigning for membership for years.

I thought one is automatically disqualified if one actively campaigns for membership at Augusta?

I think Augusta is going to be needing a cash infusion after getting rid of all the advertising revenue from the upcoming Masters Tournament.

I just hope they go Pay per View, so that they can really stick it to CBS after that clown came out today.

I'll be surprised if one or more sponsors doesn't announce a deal. In addition, there ARE other networks than CBS. Why stay there?

Did they axe all the advertisers? ...Or should I say BOTH advertisers? (Usually Cadillac and an insurance company). One of the best parts about watching the Masters is that the show is 99% golf, and 1% commercials. I guess that golf figure is now at 100%.

The CBS clown today was an EX-CBS clown, and he criticized the current CBS brass for not kissing Burk's ass and giving in to her anti-1st amendment nonsense. As long as CBS stays this course, I'll be with them.

Nope, Hootie fired all the sponsers so that Burk couldnt go after them.

He can either televise the Masters on CBS with no commercials, or he would have to negotiate the same with other networks, who would want to make money on ads.

Pay per view means that Hootie makes money, while the networks pound sand.
