Is the word "hate" in the article supposed to be "hats" or is it actually in the article that way?

I can't help it. Try as I might, I just can't get angry at this.
Will someone please explain to me, then, why you can get angry at "Redskins" or "Reds" or "Indians" or "Braves" or "Seminoles," etc.?
I guess if someone named a team "Sambos" I might see their point.

More than 15,000 shirts and hate have been sold, raising at least $100,000. I always thought you could get hate for free.

I love the T-shirt and mug designs, but I can't fathom how stupid these kids are. They must've thought white people would have gotten all bent out of shape over the team name.
Wrong. Most people of all colors are that overly sensititive.

"Fightin' Whities" sure beats "Fightin' Honkies".

Not only did they raise the level of debate but they turned it around and raised money for Native American scholarships,' said Charlene Teters VP of the American Indian Movements National Coalition on Race in Sports.Yep, it was all a great success.
Except the part where we were all supposed to be outraged. Which of course was the main objective in the first place.
In fact I'd venture to guess that the only folks secretly outraged by this whole farce are its organizers.
