One way to hunt for a perfect gift (Hotel chain quits animal rightists)

Hotel chain quits animal rightists

The national Accor Economy Lodging hotel/motel chain has responded to a flood of calls and letters from U.S. sportsmen and is discontinuing its partnership with the nation's largest animal rights group, the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS). So says the U.S. Sportsmen's Alliance, a hunting advocacy organization that has led the fight to get Accor Economy Lodging to stop helping HSUS.

Hunters and anglers might want to thank Accor Economy Lodging for its decision. Contact George Le Mener, President and CEO, Accor Economy Lodging, P. O. Box 809092, Dallas, Texas 75380-9092, or send him an e-mail c/o Kelley Johnson at kjohnson@accorel.com .

Hotel Chain Ends Arrangement with HSUS
By Brian Carnell
Saturday, November 30, 2002

The Washington Times reported this week that the national Accor Economy Lodging hotel and motel chain has ended a partnership with the Human Society of the United States after receiving complaints from hunters.

http://www.animalrights.net/articles/2002/000363.html

Also from ESPN-Hotels end support of anti-hunting group: http://espn.go.com/outdoors/hunting/news/2002/1106/1456841.html

I missed this one!

Like I've always said, sportsmen have to stick together.

Here is my letter to Accor Economy Lodging:

To: Accor Economy Lodging; George Le Mener, Kelley Johnson ( kjohnson@accorel.com )

Re: Thanks for Supporting Sportsmen

Thank you all at Accor Economy Lodging for supporting sportsmen and halting your association with the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS). Supporting any program sponsored by an animal rights group, supports all of their policies as well.

The HSUS actively denies being an animal rights organization but they were one of the main sponsors of the 2001 Animal Rights Awards!

They can deny all they want, but in for a penny, in for a pound!

Thank you again for listening to the voices of sportsmen!

Is this the same chain that includes Motel 6? I just read about them partnering with HHUS and added yet another company to my boycott list. Gezz, it's a long list!

Humane Society of the United States (HSUS).

Are these the guys that run the animal shelters or a different group?

Does this mean I can take them off my boycott list?

Yes, same folks. They have become rabidly anti-hunter, taken over by PETA. In fact, PETA has done there what I've been urging the Libertarians to do with the GOP; bore from within. They don't seem to get it though.

Anyway, the odd thing in this anti-hunting partnership is that they kill unwanted dogs and cats and dispose of the bodies. This is viewed as population control. However, when hunters control the population of wild critters, thus saving others from starvation (and feeding the hunter's family), this is viewed as cruel.

Go figure!

Actually, HSUS does not run animal shelters. (Although they don't do anything to dissuade people from thinking that they do). All of the local Humane Societies are independent.

Most of the funds raised by HSUS are spend on "activism" rather than helping animals in need. HSUS is also very closely alligned with PETA.

People donate to them think they are helping animal shelters and it just isn't true.

They have nothing to do with your local Humane Societies.

The HSUS offers guidelines and assistance to groups that want it.
