University City is reprinting 18,000 copies of a city calendar for residents because of complaints that its cover is racially offensive.

The calendar, which cost $14,000 to print, was distributed last week to the approximately 300 employees of University City before it was to be mailed citywide. Acting City Manager Willie Norfleet said Tuesday that he ordered the reprinting — which will cost an additional $14,000 — after an employee complained.

We always used tiger, too, but come to think of it, I do remember some kids using the "n-word."

Of course this word be doubly offensive to Nigerians, as in "Eeny, meeny, miney, mo(hommed), catch a Nigerian by the toe. If he hollers declare a jihad for not saying Peace Be Upon Mo."

Well, the whole matter might have slipped by unnoticed, but officials really added fuel to the fire by holding the unveiling of the new calendar at the local Sambo's Restaurant.

By the way, how about this precious PC grovelling by the city administrator:

"I apologize for not realizing that the calendar cover represented a racial term which I strongly detest and find disgraceful. I take full responsibility for authorizing the release of the cover. . .

"I want to thank the city staff members who researched the historical context of this photo and title and brought this to my attention. I would also like to thank those individuals who acted properly in canceling distribution. I am administratively directing staff to reprint the calendar with an acceptable cover which is more in keeping with the beliefs of University City residents."

Hey, $14,000 of public money is a very cheap price to pay for democrat politicians to demonstarte their "racial sensitivity" to all those black voters, both dead and alive. Every dem hack would grab at such a great opportunity. Heck, it might even be worth publishing something edgy just to be able to indignantly reverse it, especially if the dramatic gesture will be paid for by the taxpayers.

In the 60's in Brooklyn, where I grew up, if you said, "catch a Tiger by its toe" you would have caught a beatin'.

Fourth of July fireworks, if you said "whistling chaser" instead of 'n*gger chaser'--another beatin'.

I was an Army brat. We lived all over. Words like that were NOT allowed. Everyone was in green and bled red, but....if my Dad outranked your Dad..%-p

So many blacks are simply trained, from birth, to seek out reasons to be offended or to interpret any and all motives as racist. It is so sad to see so many kids whose lives are pre-programmed towards unhappiness.

The offending photo that dared to have the caption: "Eeny . . . meeny . . . miny . . . moe."

"We chose it because it was really cute, a great picture of children's feet during a game," said Moore. "It shows the diversity of our city. Once the (caption) was told to me, I can understand the problem, but nobody did anything malicious.
"I just think it got blown out of proportion, but you don't want to offend anyone with the calendar."

The fear and intimidation of the PC movement continue to be effective.

Your situation is anything but typical. The rest of the world used the word, so you shouldn't be surprised.

In the seventies, Suffolk County (the other side of Long Island from Brooklyn, for non-New Yorkers), I rarely heard any version other than "tiger".

The real tragedy is that someone had to point it out to everyone else that it was offensive, Thousands of people would have seen this calender and not thought anything about it, except it was cute.

I had the same problem last week watching the Sunday programs...I did not notice Condaleeza Rice and Colin Powell were black until a Democrat pointed it out.

You know, I thought "what a silly, stupid, whiny complaint!" until I saw the picture that was above the "Eeny Meeny Miny Moe..." It shows five feet, four of them in tennis shoes and one of a barefoot black child.

Now excuse me, but "catch a tiger by the toe" is not the implied next line when referenced to the picture.

I was offended also at that point, and the person responsible for the layout should not have anything to do with City business again in my opinion.

I was also raised as a military brat and racism was completely unacceptable to my family, friends and neighbors during my childhood.
