I actually met Exene.
Not friendly, but she was playing cards with a friend of mine recently for a while.

Oh yeah. I was a
MONSTER HUGE X fan in the eighties. Billy Zoom (a born-again Christian, BTW) is one of my all-time favorite guitarists. He could smoke punk/rockabilly with the best of them.
And Exene was just the perfect lead vocalist. She had an unbelievable combo of raw punk intensity and poetic vulnerability.

Saw X in the early-mid 80's. Unreal show, what was the guitarists name? Johhny Lightning or something? He was the the coolest looking band member ever ( execpt maybe Danny Elfman). Decent chops, but like a cartoon come to life in person.

I met Exene when her "country" band the Original Sinners came to town. Some friends of mine talked to her when X played town last week. One of them used to have the band over to his house 20 years ago.
I know what X did but I never listened to them. I like some of John Doe's later work.
