When the horror of the 9-11 attack happened in America, the US immediately attacked Afghanistan with all the might and the power that we could possibly find. There were no Jews in America who proudly called themselves "leftist" on the subject. IF you heard one Hollywood drenched extremist liberal who protested America's super bombs over Afghanistan he was immediately drowned out as a maniac, a spy or a traitor.

Why is it that when Israel suffers the loss of hundreds of innocent lives on a daily basis Jews all over the world suddenly become divided between "left" and "right"?

What is the sickness that these leftists Jews suffer from? What kind of mental paralysis or perversion creates such a warped behavior? The same qualities that have made the Jews historically the greatest humanitarians have ironically made the Jews also the world's easiest victims. They feel so uncomfortable about the thought of hurting anybody that even if a suicide bomber could be hurt while killing a hundred Jews there are thousands of Jewish "leftist" who are convinced that it is our own fault.

I do agree they look down on AND despise anyone who does not share their beliefs. I had a few encounters with some Saudis in Houston, and for the most part they were not polite, and tended to be very inconsiderate. But they are not especially magnanimous even towards their own people. I think the Arab societies tend to be very dog-eat-dog. But I know, they think we're devils. Of course there are some very nice ones and I did meet one person who was very polite and interesting, and of course there are good Arab people out there. But by and large it doesn't seem to be the rule judging from their actions in Arab countries and Israel.

I think the problems facing the modern Left besides infighting among leftists, it's their dictatorial leadership that imposes its will on its members, and a modern society that does not appreciate the value of freedom. The leftist's objective is to resist and change a world that is dramatically "wrong and unjust." …their way.

I think that's a Norwegian Elkhound, but I wouldn't guarantee it since I'm more a retriever person.

I believe Moby Dick was a cachelot. I don't know if that's a matter of differing names for the same species of whale, or a language thing, but I'm sure the other adressee can answer that question.

I want to just add, that as much as we like to analyze the reason that Jews have constantly been absued and persecuted throughout history, they are hands down the longest-lived "tribe" to ever exist. The Chinese come close and certainly have more numbers, but there are no other groups who trace such a long, unbroken heritage, nor have had som much influence on world history from Abraham to Jesus to Einstein.

Maybe the same stubborness and refusal to assimilate that has caused the problems is also the key to longevity. Or, by being God's "Chosen People" they have been chosen to suffer throughout history.

The Old Testament is one of war time like discipline in the faith of constantly threatened diaspora. Jews do not want to be this united army of G_d. Many Jews are afraid to end the war declared on them and they do not want to accept the rank they were given. Only terrorism, Nazi genocide and constant war unfortunately can force them together again, accepting their rank, rank of the Jew that ironicaly the German Nazies tried to institute.

Nazies were cowards who instinctively knew that Jews were war enders of higher rank than themselves. So the Nazies usurped the humility and then glory of the war ending soldier showing a deep spread in rank between him and G_d, and hijacked this glory by starting wars and genocide while claiming they were ending war and genocide.

These individuals who should consider themselves honored to sit in hell under constant torture unwittingly proved by the absurd the worth of the Jews. Now many Jews are not convinced yet of their own inherent worth and ability to fight wars to end wars, in humility, others outright rebel because they do not want to lose their current rank. Uniting the JEws means many Jews in power will have to lose their rank and be ruled by the like of Somali Jews (for example) who fight the war to end the war on the Jews, and they do not want that to happen. Even within the right wing Netanyahu is dividing the state by claiming power through bashing Sharon. Sharon is wiser, and his unity government was what was needed, however he should have looked in leftists of lower ranks who could move up, instead of leftists like Peres who started the wars and do not want to end them lest they lose their rank given to them in the form of the Nobel Peace Prize. THIS WAS A CAPITAL ERROR ON THE PART OF SHARON, to yield to world pressure and not fire Peres and Arafat who started it all and have no intention of ending it all, letting brave military men show their worth and replace them.

As an aside, I go into a squabble regarding gays in the military, and I reproduce it below. Gay Jews in Israel better wake up and smell the coffee. Their rank is not endangered by G_d and Israeli unity, but by the terrorists who want to keep proving the absurd.

In man there is a peace time and war time duality. Normal people have jurisdiction during peace time and rank during war time. Because normal people like to end wars, not to start them.

Terrorists on the other hand seem to follow orders, but in fact they are not, because they are the ones starting the conflicts not ending them, pitting good nations against good nations.

A gay person that in peace time rebels against an inalienable biological state of living is a person starting a revolution. THe gay person is inherently a revolutionary and unfit for an honorable military duty.

So it may seem like they can take orders, but their houses is divided against itself from the beginning. They never take orders, and if they do, ultimately, in times of peace, they use their military rank and public acceptability to continue revolution and starting PCness terrorism.

I got out a couple of my dog breed books and that is indeed a Norwegian Elkhound. They look very similar to Alaskan Malamutes, but tend to be darker with more grey and they are somewhat smaller. I'm slipping on my dog breeds... : (

I was just wondering what age and kind of person he may be. And what's this with the good shot business? Like I'm some kind of threat because I wonder what sort of person Cachelot is? It's normal to have an image of a poster who you run into now and then and they have a personality. He's just so outrageous sometimes so he stands out.

That he is, DB, that he is. The good shot was meant for some of the more viral types who are constantly getting on his case and threatening to shoot him or do him other bodily harm. You have to quit taking things so seriously and so personally.
He is an extremely good looking guy with a brain. Stupidity for stupidity's sake drives him up the wall because in his business, stupidity isn't tolerated much. It wasn't tolerated much in his old business either. There was a guy on his team at the time that everyone called stupid, and he ended up being the one who put them on the map.

I am just kind of sensitive sometimes. I tend to wear my heart on my sleeve which probably isn't always a good idea. I'm just too girly (I am a female, not a gay guy).

Yikes though, it sounds like he isn't an ordinary run-of-the-mill-guy. I have to tell you he reminds me some of my brother and my father. Both of them have/had an inability to tolerate stupidity. Of course they were never wrong about anything either!

I have wondered if he has ever received any death threats because he can be very outspoken and probably pisses off some people. Once though he got really upset because of something LL wrote him, and I really felt bad for the guy and wrote him and told him. I've grown rather fond of him for some strange reason. I have some posters I like, I especially like some of the more comical and outrageous ones, and the ones with personality and interesting information.

Not quite true. While 80% of the total Jewish vote went to Gorp, the under-35s voted for Dubya. There is hope.

And, the same trend seems to hold true amongst Latin and black voters (although the pubbie percentage is lower).

My friend, the numbers suggest the Jewish vote is rock solid democrat. The nation as a whole is turning republican, not a good sign for democrats...or jewish voters. Care to comment?

Of course they voted for Gore in the long run. However, the defining issue in their vote was not an issue but a person: Joseph Leiberman. They were voting for a liberal, but not radical Jew, with a respect for tradition. Gore became the running mate for many Jews, who would otherwise vote Republican. I know 10 of these.
