When the horror of the 9-11 attack happened in America, the US immediately attacked Afghanistan with all the might and the power that we could possibly find. There were no Jews in America who proudly called themselves "leftist" on the subject. IF you heard one Hollywood drenched extremist liberal who protested America's super bombs over Afghanistan he was immediately drowned out as a maniac, a spy or a traitor.

Why is it that when Israel suffers the loss of hundreds of innocent lives on a daily basis Jews all over the world suddenly become divided between "left" and "right"?

What is the sickness that these leftists Jews suffer from? What kind of mental paralysis or perversion creates such a warped behavior? The same qualities that have made the Jews historically the greatest humanitarians have ironically made the Jews also the world's easiest victims. They feel so uncomfortable about the thought of hurting anybody that even if a suicide bomber could be hurt while killing a hundred Jews there are thousands of Jewish "leftist" who are convinced that it is our own fault.

Well, somebody once pointed out me that Rush Limbaugh has some jewish ancestry, so he offsets a huge majority of jews that gave money to the Palestinian-loving Klintoons.

I would answer the question about why Jews are divided about Israel with two responses. The first is that Jews are not monolithic as a people in the same way and "the Japanese" or "The French" because they are spread throughout the entire world (a.k.a. Diaspora ), or have emigrated to centers of Jewish culture from a large variety of places. In Israel there are people on both the right and left (as is appropriate for a Democracy) and they are Jews. Why shoudn't there be differences of opinion by Jews observing the situation from outside?

Second, I think you would be hard pressed to find too many Jews who outright support the Palestinians. Generally, the differences are in how one views how to deal with them. Hardliners say they need to be removed or brutally opressed. Doves want to give them everything they want. Those are the extemes, but not the majority. Most people, at least in my experience, find themselves in the middle. They think the 200,000 settlers living in the midst of 2 million Palestinians is untenable, but so are the 1967 borders for Israel's security. A compromise needs to be found. Thus you have disagreement on how to stop the killing.

But, just like you can't describe to me what a Jew looks like, you also shoudn't assume you know what they should think. There is one stereotype however, which I have found to be true - Jews like to discuss and argue and consider.

Does this situation make them their own worst enemy? No, I think it makes them a people who are well suited for Democracy (which has been described by men wiser than I as the least worse form of government).

Unfortunately, most of the Jews I have met are leftists. The best example is this girl at work. When she overheard that I think that Bush is doing an excellent job - she said "What? Why? Do you want war!?".

The situation in Isreal has reached horrific proportions. Exaggerating the figures, as the author has done here (unconsciously I suspect) hurts his argument, as it makes the impartial reader suspicious.

I agree. Examples 1. Palestinians are treated as equal in hospitals. 2. A Palestinian terrorist injured by an Israeli soldier would receieve same treatment 3. Blood of Israelis is used, ironically, to treat Palestinian terrorists 4. Much of Europe, UN, and Amnesty ignore these facts which show how kind and humanitarian Israel is in the face of battle with terrorists.

Assuming that your are in New York, I wouldnt be surprised if most of the people you meet are leftists regardless of race religion or heritage.

Still, there are a lot of people in the Jewish community who are very firm supporters of both our President and teh Prime Minister of Israel.

There is, in fact, a greater percentage of Jews who vote Democrat than Republican, but that goes back to Roosevelt and it is beginning to change. Don't forget that anti-semitism was also a part of US history. FDR's legacy was instrumental in beginning to movement that now makes it impossible for a decent, respectable person to say those types of things in public.

I know it is not an excuse, but Jews tend to live in cities and people who live in cities have a greater tendency to vote left of center. I don't understand why.

Also, Why is it that Jewish people in America align themselves so closely align and vote with minority voters especially "Blacks" and yet they experience so much support for Isreal by conservative voters

hows this: a guy lives in your house. every day, he commits another atrocity against your family. in response, you punish him, but let him stay. the next day, he commits another atrocity.

if eliminating physically or killing someone who wants you dead is not an option, then be prepared to suffer.

I think this is fairly obvious, but hope springs eternal.
